I think the village, itself is charming and being so small, is easy to get around on foot. Unfortunately there is not much parking but as it was never intended for cars - that's understandable. One negative point was the pub on the quay, the Rose and Crown. Great location but the service was poor. They said they were really busy as they had a lot of customers. Being August, a Sunday, and holiday season - that's to be expected and not an excuse. We waited over an hour and other people who arrived after us, got served first. Even if their food was easier to make - it's not a good look. Also, the food was expensive and not that great. I would recommend the Yachtsman in Brightlingsea as a much better eating alternative.

Our visit was too short to explore the local history, explore far on foot, or make use of the ferry, but we enjoyed the variety of places to eat and drink, in a very small place. During our short stay, we enjoyed Indian and pub food, along with a coffee shop, all within a very short walk of our accommodation.
