We are currently staying in Karavostamo but fancied a change of scenery. I had holidayed in Greece for 21 of the 26 years together, but recently my partner died and I have found it difficult to settle this year. The Mesaktis Rooms were exactly what I needed. A beautiful tranquil setting, our terrace looked down on to a small lagoon. The owners gave me and my friend homemade lemonade and the most delicious homegrown figs, which we consumed whilst overlooking the lagoon, which was home to over 30 turtles! We were given bread with which to feed them. What a sight to feast your eyes on while we drank our delicious lemonade! The accommodation is rustic, it’s not luxurious, but it’s what we both loved about this place. There are tavernas beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need to make a simple meal. There are tavernas maybe 5 minutes walk away, a mini market next door, and over the road there is probably the best beach on Ikaria - Mesaktis beach. At the far end is a lagoon in which you can see even more turtles! The hosts, as you may have picked up on, were so generous and warm. I miss the place, the kittens and Sadi the dog already. This has been the standout experience so far of this 3 week Greek island hopping trip. I absolutely loved it, and it helped me along in my grief journey. To the owners: thank you for your hospitality, for letting me leave the car on your premises after we had checked out, and sorry for taking the room key!

The hosts were there to meet me at the time we agreed on, which was around 8 pm. They welcomed us with some local goods, which was such a lovely touch. We felt very welcome and we loved our home in Ikaria for our stay. We will definitely be back!

A charming and authentic little village with all the necessary shops. Beautiful beaches nearby. The islanders are very welcoming. The small town of Armenistis next door is also very beautiful. Two exceptional restaurants nearby: Mary Mmary in Armenistis and Chez Anna in Nas.

There's very little to do in the village, and we found the few restaurants there not very customer-friendly. Life revolves around the beach, both during the day and in the evening/night. Ideal for young surfers.

The location was excellent.

The location was excellent. It's a 15-minute drive from Evilioads. It's also very close to the island's tourist attractions, including Nas Beach, Armenetis, and plenty of beaches to swim in. If I were to go again, I'd stay in the same area.
