The property was without doubt one of the most aesthetically considered hotels we’ve been to. The decor (from the artwork to the furniture to the cutlery) was beautiful and incredibly detail oriented, with a local Guatemala / Mayan theme. The setting was even better, with great views over the lake and nicely nestled into the hills. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. Definitely visit Casa Palopo if you’re visiting Atitlan.

Hotel atitlan exceeded expectations and has been our favourite Central American hotel so far in our trip. The hotel photos maybe make the rooms a bit dark and dated but in fact they were charming and characterful, and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant food was great (dinner and breakfast) and the restaurant location is beautiful. The grounds are stunning! If the national trust went tropical this is what you would get. Beautifully kept. The hotel is a little out of town ($4 tuk tuk) but that means you’re out of the bustle and noise of Pana. Gorgeous pool.

Beautiful little hostel right in the middle of town. Facilities were great! The room was clean and cozy, and shower was great too (with hot water). Staff were very friendly and accommodating, and they were able to keep my luggage prior to check in and after check out. I would definitely recommend!

Nice lakeshore village.

Nice lakeshore village. Not much to do in the village itself, but it is very close to San Catarine, which is of the same type and Panajachel which is much bigger and full of tourism attractions. The advantage of San Antonio is quiet location, not much traffic and great sceneries. The village has quite unique cobalt shore promenade along the whole village. Travel by car o boat to Panajachel is not expensive and easy. One may order lake boat trip starting from the village itself.

A quiet town at night where nightlife is still nonexistent.

A quiet town at night where nightlife is still nonexistent. Having a vehicle allowed us to travel to Panajachel for dinner (25 min.) and return to San Antonio Palopo for a peaceful rest. The sunrise in this authentic village was calm and comforting.

These coastal villages, less touristy but with their own...

These coastal villages, less touristy but with their own charm and appeal, are less wealthy but very welcoming and warm. Ceramics are one of the specialty products sold in the village. There are many workshops brimming with talent, as everything is done by hand right before your eyes. Fishing is also deeply rooted in the village's way of life. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to see and learn more.
