First time, independent visitors staying for only a day should IMHO walk up both of the hills in old Zagreb. The areas around both of them are interesting but the "lesser hill" (the one without the cathedral) was to me the more enjoyable. Walking back down hill from the lesser hill, i stumbled onto a pleasant and undeveloped and totally unexpected wild and wooded section alongside the staircase.Guest review byNancyUnited States - 8.0

A small city which is not really as orientated as Split or Dubrovnik and not at other capital cities (a plus in many ways). Many beautiful spots though and very nice people. We took the hop on hop off bus as we only had one full day - really worth it! Also we went on a Sunday and most of the shops were closed - but the museums we chose were open.
