FAQs about hotels in Ubud

Bali's Peaceful Retreat

If you are seeking a hideaway from Bali’s chaotic Kuta, Ubud provides a welcome respite with its secluded paths, calming temples and specialised spa resorts. Surrounded by rice paddies, coconut trees and lush forests of green, Ubud is seen as the cultural centre of Bali.

The road leading up to Ubud features little villages specialising in handicrafts like Celuk (silver jewellery), Batuan (paintings) and Mas (wood carvings). Ubud, itself, produces all sorts of handicrafts in its peaceful foothills. There are also numerous art galleries, workshops and courses on offer for the budding artist.

The Monkey Forest is a popular tourist drawcard with its ravenous monkey population lunging at anything resembling food. The 9th-century Goa Gajah, or Elephant Cave, showcases the island’s historic past and there is the regular Ubud Market for modern-day souvenir hunters.

Ubud is a place for relaxation and many yoga and meditation centres have developed over the years on Indonesia’s most popular island. Booking.com offers a range of guest houses, villas, bungalows and world-class resorts with spa facilities or pool.

Love Ubud. Have visited more than a dozen times.

Love Ubud. Have visited more than a dozen times. Jungle, river gorges, rice terraces, temples, waterfalls, culture, artwork all quite extraordinary. Then there are all the hotels, restaurants, stores, bars, architecture … just exceptional. Above all, the warm, happy nature of the hard working Balinese people is charming.

We were a bit worried about coming to bali in the rain season but so far, there was no need for that, The occasional shower is absolutely okay, there is plenty of sun left and the temperatures are gorgeous In Ubud, but less up in the mountains. The low season makes the town a bit more quiet but the traffic is still close to crazy, I can't imagine what that looks like when there's a million more tourists...

Ubud is cool, noisy and chaotic with a lot of traffic but absolutely worth it. All the official tourist stuff is obviously heavily promoted and usually also feels that way but if you go on solo adventures, which is absolutely possible, you can meet a more real Bali very easily as people are incredibly nice. If you are authentic and show honest interest, people will tell you all the cool details about their culture and their really deep spiritual connection (and by that, often point you in the direction you can go and explore). If you are a runner, Ubud is not easy to run, you will be barked at by dogs (they dont do anything but it still feels sketchy) and you can not back away from the dog as you will be hit by a side mirror because the traffic is tight. After 10k, the lung feels a bit like a chimney. However if you get out into the rice fields and a bit through jungle parts: its pretty damn cool. Dont trust mapped routes blindly you run into deadends and sketchy jungle territory 🤣 We would not recommend during high season but enjoyed Ubud a lot.

Being centrally located, Ubud makes great base to cover the rest of Bali. It also has its own attractions like Ubud Palace, Water Palace and Pura Dalem. Varid staying and food options give travelers a wide choice. Although food prices are on the higher side. It is a bit overcrowded, and traffic is bad, but its compact size allows walking to all the local attractions.

Ubud is a magical place, and I'm glad I spent most of my time in Indonesia there. A vast, peaceful culture of well-being and tranquillity. Kind people, wherever I went. Excellent food, lush nature, green vegetation. Shops, restaurants, music, Spas. A charming city you'll be sad to leave. It maintains its authenticity, values, and traditions despite the tourism. I'll definitely be back! Thank you.

For Bali , if you need to be in a peaceful , nature surrounded area, not too far from the airport, I think Ubud is a good place to settle. Other nature option can be more northern part of Bali but still Ubud can be sufficient. The sea area can be too many people and too hot to stay. Food is easy, if you are concern about Halal food, you can always grab for Halal food, in case you cannot find any. If it is okay for you, you can always ops for vegetarian or vegan food, options in Ubud are amazing ( please try Plant Bistro ).

Beautiful grounds the gardens are immaculate, we stayed in a suite with a private pool which was lovely. The communal pool is stunning & very quiet . Breakfast is made to order and was excellent everyday & all the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We used the hotels free a shuttle into Ubud Centre a few times ( which is about 5-10 mins by car ) and we also got a taxi on a few occasions and the prices were cheap. Would definitely stay again -loved it .

Our one bedroom villa with private pool far exceeded expectations. It was a stunning experience to stay there, the pool was stunning as were the other facilities. The hotel is very long and narrow and sits between rice fields on both sides so there’s a wonderful blend of nature and the busy hubbub of Ubud. Well located near restaurants and the monkey forest which I suggest getting to as soon as it opens. The staff were lovely and super helpful.

This property is amazing. Our villa had a private pool with the most incredible view. Plus the included breakfast was just the best, with multiple options and great coffee. We also enjoyed that the hotel was not in the thick of it all, and instead was in a serene spot still close to the Ubud town centre.
