A town not too far from Dublin airport and within easy distance to Co Tyrone ,Northern Ireland. The locals very very friendly and the local pubs were traditional , well at least the ones I went into. YES the Guinness does taste different to the British variety .Ireland in common with most places these days is not a cheap place ,indeed the price of property is on par with England as opposed to a few years when it was dirt cheap. Roads generally in good repair , the main ones , the side roads can be problematic.

The staff were exceptionally helpful, with advice (local taxi's who were very reliable & fair priced) Wilst preparing for an event a 'sticky' garment cleaner was required; again reception were able to help. I cannot fault the staff for their help & advice. A real credit to the hotel.

I thought it was a busy bright town with v friendly people . More detailed tourist info would help & be more widely available eg the Harry Clark windows in St Joseph’s Church . Stunning but only found them thanks to lovely ,informative lady in craft shop in Lace Centre.

Breakfast very good , traditional irish .Staff very friendly .Good sized bedrooms, iron and ironing board in room. Rooms very quiet. No objections raised when my party produced a PIPER who played Danny Boy in my honour in the public bar/loungeat 11 pm . The Shirley commands a strong presence within the local area, especially since the Nuremore hotel and spa has closed

We stayed here after a wedding in cabra castle, which was only a 15min drive from the property. Everything about the property was fantastic. Charlotte was extremely helpful in getting the sofa bed set up for us, the beds themselves were hotel level of comfort.
