Walking into a HUGE luxurious suite, what a gorgeous surprise! The espresso machine was magic and kept on giving:) Dining experience in hotel restaurant was superb. From the moment I got here this place exceeded my expectations. It was lovely and I was met by a wonderful staff member upon my arrival. I then was showed two separate rooms to choose from, both of which had my name in chalk on them which was so kind and very personal and sweet touch. The rooms are all individual and so cute, Some have sinks in them and others have a little movie projector set up that you can stream from your phone. I also had a meeting I had to have there and the internet was so good. The kitchen is wonderful and a great place to store food and they will even cook you a pizza and bring it to your room with a friendly little puppy as well. I cannot say enough great things about this place, every detail was thought out and has a air of humor to it. The bathroom has a game of thrones theme and you sit on the chair of the iron throne and there is even a little book in there called "games on thrones". Its hilarious snd wonderful. Did I mention there are hot tubs and a sauna. What an amazing stay and place.

The location of Bnb is very central and well connected. The rooms were nice and spacious, just freshly renovated. Bathroom was large and very clean. Breakfast came with a lot of options, including full irish fry, toasts, some sweet or savoury, some hot and cold. Coffee and tea was served to breakfast as well. The owners were very lovely to talk to and took great care of us. Highly recommended if you're planning a stay in this area.

Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.

Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The National Museum of Ireland is just a few minutes drive away. Castlebar is ideally located for exploring County Mayo. The local library is excellent too with very friendly helpful staff who were only too willing to help with a little family history enquiry. We only stayed for one night and had our main meal in Lana, an Asian restaurant. The food was lovely and plentiful. So much so, we didn't bother with breakfast the following day.

Capital town of Mayo where I have lived and worked in for 42 years so my answers would be biased. I only came to see my grandchildren so did not view any sites - it is fairly central so Westport, Achill, Enniscrone and Galway are very accessible. Several large stores are based in or around the town - there is a greenway and National Natural Museum, large Theatre and the Michael Davitt Museum all in or around the Town. So plenty to do and see - all one can hope for is good weather.

The hosts were friendly and welcoming. Each morning they helped guests find the best routes to the places they planned to visit that day. They had a detailed map book that they used, which was great because the roads in Castlebar are confusing. The room was comfortable and breakfast was delicious. On the previous page, booking gave them a rating of 3/5. I disagree and think it should be higher. I would definitely stay at Carrick House again and recommend it to friends.

I liked the Theatre show I went to was enjoyable.

I liked the Theatre show I went to was enjoyable. Loved the shops around the hotel not too far to walk. Hotel was nice but few things could be updated for price of rooms. Ate in hotel but I would definitely look for other places to eat if I was going back to Castlebar.

Layout of the town is terrible.

Layout of the town is terrible. Very difficult to find things and drive in for someone who is not familiar with it. Restaurants are adequate; a good variety. Mostly need to be there because of services (solicitor, accountant, etc.). My understanding is that the hospital is not very good.

We enjoyed the visit to Castlebar. We were on a trip around the north coast of Ireland meeting friends in Castlebar who recommended the hotel. The hotel was well located and suited our needs. Very friendly owners who provided excellent facilities and services.
