FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery and Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green-spaces of any other European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College holds the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

Being one of the most youthful European cities, Dublin has a vibrant nightlife scene with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

The Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish holiday, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, a self-catering apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

Dublin is entirely walkable with transportation systems to support travel to all major cities, towns and Dublin’s seaside villages. Howth was 25 minutes train ride away for 5.2 euro Round trip. The Dublin Express airport shuttle is readily available and inexpensive. My goal was to not rent a car and it worked for four weeks at a very reasonable cost as a solo traveler. I went to Nenagh, Ennis, Cliffs of Moher, Galway, Aran Islands and back.

Dublin is a great shopping city and there are plenty of lovely areas to walk around and browse. We were at an Ireland rugby match at the Aviva which is always a great experience. Excellent Japanese restaurants with fantastic food.

Walking in Dublin is brilliant... O,Connel Street, Temple Bar, Trinity Collegeandalong theLiffey to Pheonix Park. Take in the Guinness Storeroom, the Book of Kells and the Rock and Roll Museum shouldnt be missed...theyare exceptional. A sail on the river is interesting and relaxing lots of good eating places... If very expensive with the exception of the CHines Buffet half way up O,Connell Street. Walk to Grafton Street ... Good shops, buskers and the beauttiful Bewleys Coffee Shop. Walk on to relax in St. Stephens Green... lovely park. Go and sing with Molly Malone.

Dublin's a nice place, but loud music, flippant service and homeless people sleeping everywhere spoil it. When you are served by Dubliners, ie Irish people, you will have, generally, more friendly service.

Vibrant city with so much character and many interesting attractions. Great to explore on foot or via reliable public transit. It can get expensive, especially in the tourist areas, so budget conscious travellers may.want to engage locals for “off the beaten path” suggestions. Try a pint and a pie at Ginger Man tavern, or stumble into any of the oodles of friendly pubs across the city

I found Dublin to be a very large city, and many things are far apart. What doesn't help is that wherever you want to go, public transport is only 10 minutes faster than the walking route on Google Maps, which makes it neither affordable nor efficient to use; taxi fares are a daytime robbery. Lovely free museums and lots to do, from ring making to Irish dancing. Loved the restaurant in the converted Church that has live performances every day.

- location was perfect, literally in the city centre of Dublin - room was spotless clean, very modern, we had beautiful view for the cathedral - considering it was city centre, the area around the hotel wasn’t noisy or dangerous, maybe we just got lucky - receptionists were very friendly - breakfast wasn’t big, but I think everyone could find something for themselves

Beautiful big room with very comfortable bed, was a lot fancier than expected which made it very good value for money! Staff were very welcoming, accommodating and helpful with any queries we had. The breakfast had lots of options and was really tasty, hotel is within walking distance of the train station so very easy to get in and out of Dublin City centre
