The hotel is new, model, stylish. Breakfast is great: Irish breakfast, chocolate muffin, fruits. Options and quality were amazing. Rooms were silent. Bathroom good. Great parking. Galway is a great city to have a basis and explore the west coast and I strongly recommend the Radisson Red Hotel for that.

FAQs about hotels in Galway

Cracking City of Craic

Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.

The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly colored shops and restaurants.

Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which has an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.

Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.

Booking.com has an excellent range of Galway hotels, apartments and B&Bs to complete your stay.

It was the best city to base yourself to explore East...

It was the best city to base yourself to explore East Ireland including Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Stone, Doolan Cave, Hazel Mountain Chocolate, Moore Hall (which is a must do). Just amazing scenic drives. You can also jump on to Bus Tours in the city if you don't have a car. The City is amazing get some good shoes on for an amazing and safe walk while you explore Churches, Galleries, Latin Quarter, Spanish Quarter and the best ever pub atmosphere (The Kings Head). Good shopping if that is your thing. Also visit markets on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with handmade arts and crafts and probs the best oysters ever.

Galway is a great starting point for Ring of Kerry tour.

Galway is a great starting point for Ring of Kerry tour. In addition Galway is a charming town with lots of character. We ate at Mcginns Hop House and it was so good we ate there both nights we were in town. Be sure to drop into the Galway Cathedral as it is truly speculative.

A beautiful clean, safe city. So much history in and around the city. The people are lovely and enjoy a chat. An easy city to walk around-no car needed. A trip to the Cliffs of Moher and Arran Islands is a 'must do'.

A perfect home base for a visit to Irelands west coast.

A perfect home base for a visit to Irelands west coast. The city itself has lots to offer but it makes it a central location to many of Irelands tourist attractions. I recommend it for a 3-4 night stay if doing day trips around the area, or 2 nights if strictly staying in Galway. In Salthill we loved Ré coffee and the strolling the boardwalk. In the city, the fries at Prátai are an absolute must, visit the Cheesemongers Wine bar for amazing Irish cheese boards and great wine selection. Many beautiful pubs to choose from, my favorites were Tigh Neachtain’s and Tig Choili, and restaurant options are abundant.

Galway wasn't our favorite place to stay.

Galway wasn't our favorite place to stay. We enjoyed our day trips outside of Galway, but the traffic in and around Galway was terrible. I even asked a local and he said the traffic was always that bad. The buses we took to the city center was 45 minutes late according to the bus schedule which was probably due to traffic.

A good standard hotel, everything ok and clean. The city center is a 35 min walk away. A taxi ride is roughly 10 euro. But only 10 min from the hotel, close to the shopping center, is a TIF public Bike rent. Book via app and it costs only 3 euros for 3 days. And by bike it only takes 5 min to get to the city center.
