We spent little time during the day in Skibbereen itself. We selected it as a central point to stay as we explored Mizen Head and other areas in the region. Highly recommend Wild Ways for breakfast and pizza, the Church Restaurant for dinner in a beautiful surrounding, and O'Neill Coffee for a beautiful flat white. Great Murphy's in the Corner Bar too! The town was very nice with a great car park over by ALDI. Lovely just to walk around and browse the shop windows and potter about. For groceries also check out the Fields SuperValu store, a fantastic selection of foods and really nice staff. While there you must also visit to Lough Hyne, a most wonderful surprise. It was so nice to sit by the fire in this beautiful old manor and have a drink and a game of chess. The food was really tasty and you could tell it was high quality stuff. The staff were so friendly and attentive. In the morning we went for a walk around the grounds and enjoyed spotting little bits of history.
