Search hotels in Kargil

We stayed in Kargil leaving Srinagar and returning. I think the city has a lot of potential. There are tourist sights that we did not know about. There is a night market on Old Hospital Road that has street hawker food that we visited on both trips. We would have visited the 300 year old city on the way out of town. However the new 2024 Ladakh law that tourist sites can only be visited in local taxi's prevented us from going. We are in transit from Leh to Srinagar and we have to hire another car to see a site. Really painful. We missed something interesting and they missed some tourist revenue.

Kargil is small town near the border. For those interested in seeing the Indo pak border, seeing the history, it is a good visit. Facilities are limited, so travellers must be prepared for it. People are nice.
