One of the most beautiful small hotels that I have stayed in for a very long time - painstakingly renovated but still comfortable and inviting. Lovely staff and the nicest dose that we ate during our week-long trip to Tamil Nadu. An added plus are the charming hosts and lovely pool.

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay at Visalam. Very beautiful art deco house : authenticity and charm. Excellent place with a very kind and professional team. Food excellent too : all is local and tasty. We loved to have breakfast in the garden, lunch at the pool and dinner on the terrace. Pool area is very pleasant too. The hotel propose visits and activities, we did the heritage walk, cycling tour and temple tour..all were very nice. It was also very easy to discuss with the other guests, probably because the atmosphere of the house was harmonius. The hotel is very special, into an old and totally renovated Chettinadu palace, the atmosphere is great, it was nice to stay two nights to enjoy the place. The food is fine and the staff is very helpful. I would suggest to make the Chettinadu tour from the hotel and the palce tour, both very interesting.

Kavita the receptionist was simply the best of her kind: welcoming, friendly, informative, inquisitive with a heartwarming life story too. The place itself was charming. Large, clean and comfortable room. Breakfast in nearby Chettinadu Mansion was ample and good, as was dinner there too. Kanadukathan is a fabulous and unique place in India with its magnificent Chettinadu mansions. An oasis of calm from normal hectic India.
