Cottage-like hotel with authentic, quirky Icelandic interior. Conveniently located near Mývatn on Route 1. The staff was extremely friendly and prepared the room way before the official check-in time despite our spontaneous booking and arrival. The room had everything we needed; it was totally quiet and the beds were very comfortable. We did not try the dinner, but the breakfast was pretty good with lots of choice. Two friendly dogs greeted us (they belong to the hotel, apparently). Would come again here any time.

If your main goal to see the northern lights, this is the best place you can imagine. The sky is dark, no sources of light pollution around, mountains aside are not tall, so you see the sky from left to right without obstacles. We had chance to see beautiful northern lights, and it was awesome. Just use one of two large spaces on the road that lead to the hotel, there are the darkest spots for observing. Hotel is very clean and soundproof. Good breakfast.

The staff was very nice, they definately treat you as a special guest and know what good service is. The breakfast buffet is one of the better ones in Iceland! It's nice they have a small menu so you can grab a bite in the hotel but it's not divers enough for several days. The hotel is almost exactly inbetween of Akureyri and Husavik what makes it a good location for whale watchers. The beds are good and the shower is perfect!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Fljotsbakki hotel! The owner and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room and bathroom were spacious, comfortable and very clean! Breakfast was also good! Location is excellent, a few km from Godafoss.
