Reykjavik is Iceland’s largest and most bustling city, with plenty of local Icelandic cuisine to try. The city isn’t very big, so I’d recommend either parking your car in a city parking lot or staying at a centrally located hotel. That way, you can easily explore the concert hall, Rainbow Street, and the churches on foot.

We loved our stay in Reykjavik.

We loved our stay in Reykjavik. It’s a funky, hip place with good facilities and little surprises as you get into it. Great food at Padre Pizza, great place to wander around as it is mostly flat and compact. Bus travel to Perlan and other side of town was easy.

one night was good if you just want to see the town.

one night was good if you just want to see the town. If you want more museums etc. so two nights is good. Car renting was the best thing: you can drive where ever you have time. Recommend to stay nights in guesthouses where is kitchen, because you can cook yourself. Restaurants and shop in the middle of land is expensive. remember use stores near the sea. Near geysir is only one really expensive market!!!! Buy your things before. Restaurants are more expensive then in Finland.

Be sure to visit the Perlan natural history museum for great views of the city and for a mesmerizing volcano experience. Also take the time to enjoy the hot tubs at the local swimming pools. Best restaurant - Salka Valka

Nice Scandinavian vibe. Better than Oslo; i prefer Helsinki.

Nice Scandinavian vibe. Better than Oslo; i prefer Helsinki. Landscape is great, nice 'skyline' and village feel. Expensive [very] for the day to day things, snacks, coffee, etc. Practically cashless so that works well. ATM's all over if needed. Good outlets. Copious eating options. Eminently walk able. Airport could be much better and transfer to and fro - bit of a carbuncle but it the best they can do. Relying on taxis \c£150 each way, or a bus thingy which isn't easily signed or understood. I understand it now, but a the time i was rather angst. Return public transport is practically non-existent before 7am so if an early return flight you are a hostage to taxi fare. International Airport is 40 miles, roughly, from Reykjavik [45 minutes at 4am without traffic]. I am pleased i have visited and been out the city and seen the 'landscape'. It's not a location for a regular long weekend away for me, more a once only, but its nice enough. Perfectly safe and quite unlike Stockholm / Oslo. A place to take your fiance for sure.

Reykjavik is incredibly walkable.

Reykjavik is incredibly walkable. Assuming you have a good day weatherwise, it's just a lovely place to be. Eating can be expensive, but the quality of restaurants is very high. Hallgrimskirkja is genuinely impressive and the Sólfar I found to be quite moving - it's also bigger than it looks. I also think the bakeries in this city are of world class quality. Well worth getting a cinnamon bun.

All staff we met - reception, breakfast, cleaners - all were super nice and helpful. We checked out before 4am to catch our flight which meant we couldn’t have breakfast and at the time of checking out we were pointed to the table where coffee and warm croissants were waiting for us - that was so kind. The hotel is environmentally friendly. Location - close to the city center and just next to the bus stop 12 - one of the pick up points for the tours and for the airport transfer. If we get back to Reykjavik, we will get back to this hotel.

The location is good, very close the center, you can do it walking. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and always ready to help. The best! The slice of cake and the free coffee is just great after a walking day. The room was enough for, confortable and warm. Is a very nice cozy place to stay in Reykjavik

The room was clean, the beds were quite comfortable and the building is well located, walking distance from downtown. Supermarkets and restaurants very close. And it was the cheapest room I could find near the city center.
