When choosing a place for a great holiday, aside from the mandatory “clean/quiet/organized/unpretentious/hot-water-does-not-run-out”, we have a checklist that helps: 1) small and family run, 2) has a garden and an uncrowded pool, 3) close to the sea, but away from the main street, 4) walking distance to the nearest town, 5) good food inside or close-by. This place checks all the boxes!!! If you are anything like us, you will enjoy it greatly. When we booked, there were not many reviews - and this boutique hotel bested our expectations. The owners Paola and Dario make you feel at home, as does the main waiter in the restaurant, Pino. Most recommended! The location: you are in a garden just above the sea, 100 m walk from a little beach, away from the main road. It is also a 10-15 min seaside walk to the cozy Forio - or 3 min walk to the bus stop that takes you to anywhere on the island. (Note that if you are coming from Napoli, you can take the ferry directly to Forio. Dario was very kind - he picked us up at the ferry. You really do not need a car in Ischia.) The hotel looks better in reality than in the photos. There are two pools: one regular large pool, one thermal hot water. The pool area is separated from the hotel by a garden and the dining terrace, so you do not hear the pool sounds in the rooms. The room was renovated and clean. Airconditioning is quiet and works well. The restaurant: The breakfast and lunch is served on the garden terrrace, the dinner is in a downstairs hall. We had two lunches and a dinner during our stay, all of which were really delicious and ample. For us, the food bested all other restaurants in Ischia.

This hotel will always have my heart! Absolutely gorgeous with a mesmerising view over the picturesque village of Sant’ Angelo. Luxurious rooms with all the amenities required (and more) and breakfast is served on your private balcony every morning. We actually loved everything about this hotel. It is our first time on Ischia so we did not know much about the island and its neighborhoods. But now we know a bit more, and realize how lucky we were choosing Casa Guiseppina. 1. Ischia is a wonderful island. 2. The Sant Angelo area is really beautiful and cars are banned in the centre of the village. 3. The village of Succhivo, 1 km away is the perfect hub in the area. You have a bus stop, a snack bar and a nice restaurant "Osteria della Mamma". 4. Casa Guiseppina is the obvious place to choose for a stay. There are three sections of the hotel: the main building with the restaurant, the nearby annex with the pool, and a bit away they have some larger apartments. 5. The pool. We stayed in the pool section of the hotel. The building is affluently embedded in flowers, trees, pergolas and the vulcano-heated pool is pleasantly 35 degrees warm. 6. Rooms are rustic, cleaning is flawless. 7. The hosts are great and have an informal friendliness making you feel very welcome. 8. Breakfast is fresh with fruits, eggs by choise, and good coffee served at the table. 9. You can on a daily whim choose if you want dinner or not. Just tell before noon. 10. Dinner is a well tasting four course meal with a great mix of dishes focusing on vegetables, pasta, meat/fish + dessert. Of the + 50 hotels I reviewed in Booking, this is the kind of 3 star hotels you never would trade even if you are offered a 5 star alternative.

Very well-positioned hotel - almost in the sea, clean room, balcony with amazing view, a small swimming pool, the terrace for breakfast/lunch/dinner is great, delicious food. The access from the bus stop/car parking is not very easy, but if you call the owner, he will come and help or he will send someone to do it. The staff was very nice, helpful, we felt as we were among friends. It is a simple and modest hotel, but in the same time, distinguished and special, at least for us :-)

Hotel located in a beautiful monastery castle. The main highlight is the hotel itself inside the monastery and part of the castle, which is Ischia's main attraction. Museums, patios, beautiful gardens, a mix of garden with vegetable garden, flowers and vegetables. The room is simple but comfortable, with a good bathroom and shower. The best breakfast: sweets, cakes, pie; black rice salad with leaves from the garden, variety of homemade breads, fresh mozzarella, juices, fruits, nuts, eggs, cold cuts, gluten-free, etc. The hotel restaurant is excellent, food worthy of the best quality restaurant. There are guests who complain about stairs and the room not being large. The hotel is inside a historic building, a monastery and it is impossible not to have stairs. There is already an elevator that takes you from the entrance to the highest part where the hotel is located. But some stairs are unavoidable. The thick walls limit WiFi, which works well in the room, and near the reception and restaurant. Ultimately, a special accommodation and an experience.

Perched high over the bay beside Sant Angelo with breathtaking views! Christian, the proprietor could not do enough for us, a free upgrade to a junior suite (as we were honeymooners,) lovely breakfasts and he ferried us to and from the beach in his electric caddy car! The local beach is small but the best one we found, with Emanuella’s restaurant a must go to! Wonderful pastas and fish!
