The perfect place to stay on Salina island. Located within the quiet village of Leni overlooking the sea. A Dream location. The host Francesca went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. She made gluten free cakes for breakfast ( as I was gluten intolerant) , home made Jams ( when chatting with locals they mentioned her Jams ) and amazing uova strapazzate with mint each morning. Her love of the island was infectious as she recommended the best places to visit and eat. If you are looking for a local experience with local people from the island that will make you feel like you are at home then - this is the place to be !

The hotel is absolutely beautiful - from the gardens, to the interior design, and the spectacular views from the room, the pool, and the rooftop bar. The staff is so lovely, kind, and helpful. They always greeted us with a smile and were ready to help with anything we needed. We also really enjoyed the delicious lunches on their airy terrace. The paninis and salads are fresh and delicious! We felt right at home and very lucky that we could spend our holiday here. This is a true gem!

Rinella in June was very quiet with not many restaurants to...

Rinella in June was very quiet with not many restaurants to choose from. There was one clothes shop,one grocery shop and one tabbachi. If you don’t have a car, ferry, taxi or Citi bus is the only way to get about - or hiking of course. The bus I think is cheapest but we didn’t use it because we were mostly island hopping. 10 minute ride on ferry to Santa Marina Salina seemed expensive for the trip but I think it gets more expensive at certain popular times of the day. This is a quieter, more remote place to do the hopping (with the extra 10 min journey always tagged on the end from Santa Marina) so if you want a little bit more buzz choose one of the other islands or Santa Marina. Personally, we liked the vibe on Vulcano and loved Stromboli. (Stromboli is probably not the best base for island hopping though as it is the furthest one away). Lipari is big and bustling and didn’t feel like island-life but if you like that sort of thing, it’s a great base. On the whole we enjoyed our choice of base at Rinella. It was a good ‘getaway from it all’ place, where we were forced to do extremely little- when not venturing.

Excellent.

Excellent. Our favorite places, all within easy reach: Rinella, Punta Scario, Malfa, Pollara, Lago di Lingua, and Santa Marina. Excellent restaurants include Villa Carla and Pa'.pe.ro'. The Galletta farmhouse is very mediocre.

Leni is 350 meters away.

Leni is 350 meters away. I recommend a car or scooter, otherwise your mobility will be severely limited. You can walk down to the port via a 15-minute path, but you'll need a bus to get up. (I went in mid-September, and the bus service was already much less frequent.)

Leni is very pretty and close to the port of Rinella, but...

Leni is very pretty and close to the port of Rinella, but unfortunately life is more concentrated in Malfa and Santa Marina. Despite this, I recommend it because you can get anywhere in 20 minutes by scooter, and the mountain ride through Salina's still very primitive and untouched nature is definitely worth it.

A small town nestled between Salina's two highest craters.

A small town nestled between Salina's two highest craters. An excellent starting point for excursions to the craters, which offer sweeping views of the entire Aeolian archipelago. Nestled among the Malvasia vineyards and olive groves of Salina, you can reach the beaches and the island's other two towns by bus or rental scooter. For dining, I recommend Villa Carla and the Galletta farmhouse.

A less touristy area of the island of Salina, it's incredibly peaceful. Getting around is easy thanks to the local buses or renting a scooter. There are also many small restaurants serving delicious traditional Aeolian dishes!

Mariella and Carlos are friendly and obliging hosts and their home is an historic house with a special history and unique charm that's been in the family for generations. It was a pleasure to meet them. Leni is a little village and one gets to know the locals a bit in a short time. I ate at a new little kitchen close by run by Enzo and it was homely and delicious. The local wines are wonderful and the capers and lemons! There are some lovely walks nearby. I would love to stay longer.

A quaint hotel in a beautiful area of the island, Rinella. Very tranquil and relaxing. Monica, Rosa and Marco were exceptional with doing as much as they can for you to make your stay at their impeccably clean hotel, a great one. Monica's home made goodies added a special touch to the breakfast on the terrace with a great view! Highly recommend Hotel Principe di Rinella.

This is a fantastic hotel, with incredible views over the Med and Mount Etna in the distance. Everything was beautiful: immaculate rooms, open balconies, the light, surroundings, village of Leni, nature and the hospitality was amazing. Truly recommended, we'd like to come back. Easy central location to travel around Salina using public transport.

Incredible place on the seafront in the peaceful village of Rinella. The rooms with private terraces are worth the money and the hotel provides great recommendations for what to do on the island. Really appreciated the luggage pick up service at the ferry port too and the staff were very helpful.
