Everything was just perfect. A spotlessly clean flat, a picturesque, peaceful location (a good place to visit Assisi but also to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city) and, above all, the nicest hosts under the sun. Ready to help, advise, we were delighted to have a short chat with them every time we met in the yard. We hope to have this opportunity again in the future. If you are a walker like us, do not fear: legs, buses and trains are enough to explore the area with ease. In addition, our wonderful hosts lent us bicycles free of charge, which made our stay and trips even more enjoyable.

Picturesque Umbrian villages. Easy to get around and do business, although English is not widely spoken, so knowing basic Italian makes life easier. The best thing is that American tourists are conspicuous by their absence!

The town is quiet and sleepy, with a few small restaurants...

The town is quiet and sleepy, with a few small restaurants and a Conad grocery store. The most important thing is its proximity to Assisi. In Rivotorto itself is the Church of Santa Maria, which houses the Sacred Tugurium. This was one of the first places where St. Francis of Assisi and his companions stayed, at the beginning of the Franciscan movement.

I recommend staying here for anyone visiting Assisi, as everything has a logical thread. It starts in Rivotorto, where the hovel is, the first hut where St. Francis lived. It's just a few kilometers from Assisi (about 4).

The excellent location and excellent transport links make it a quiet base from which to explore the surrounding area, with all the amenities you need. Furthermore, the Sanctuary offers peace and serenity, as well as a little-known insight into the history of Saint Francis.

The proprietors were an elderly man and wife, who spoke no English. They phoned their grand-daughters, who came to help them. But all through the stay, when the bus strike was on, they offered us lifts back into Assisi, some 4 miles away. So much laughter and genuine commitment to supporting us while we were there. I'm sure they might find a space for you? They were wonderful. Il Tugurio Agriturismo. B&B Rivotorto. close to the big church there. To the right as you look at the church from the road.

This place is a magic tranquility zone, with such beautiful garden - flowers blooming everywhere, views to medieaval Assisi, cosy living area. Breakfast - wow, did the personnel even sleep during the night?? So many cakes!!! Very good coffee! The area is big enough to get privacy, but not too big, My small dog loved running around and it felt safe to let her do that!

It is a truly exceptional place in a beautiful countryside, close to Assisi. The owners, Patrizia and her family, are very kind people. After a whole hot day on our feet in Assisi, it was good to cool off in the outdoor swimming pool.
