Udine is very beautiful and I wish I'd been there on a day other than Monday, when most things are closed. If Udine wants to cater for more tourists they should seriously consider whether it's possible to have some of the main attractions open every day.
Udine is a perfect small City for English-speaking Tourists. Many Shop/Restaurant/Gallery Staff speak at least some English. And Udine is a safe city. Restaurant and Cafe Owners evidently do not feel the necessity to lock up their Outdoor Tables and Chairs (unlike in many other Cities). I was informed by a local Physiotherapist that crime is not significant in Udine, and I believe it. I felt safe walking the City at night. Defying the horror stories that one hears/reads about Pickpockets in Rome/Venice/Florence and other major Italian Destinations, there is no evidence of pickpocketing in Udine. Most likely, that is because Tourists visiting Udine are nearly all Italians from other parts of Italy! Furthermore, the architecture in the Old City is a treat. So are the Tiepolo Gallery and the Modern Art Gallery (Casa Cavazzini)
It’s a lovely town with friendly people and lots of interesting old buildings. It offers a wide selection of good restaurants and bars. You get the impression that the locals (who are friendly) are not short of a few bob, thus the good quality of the eateries.
Udine is a perfect place for a several-day stop in which to explore the town-center and for short trips to the nearbytowns like Cividale. For families with small children it is perfect because Udine is not very big and distancies a short. Within two, three days the town center is in general explored, but keeps holding new surprises when looking closer. Hotels and restaurants are great, university life is vivid and the FAREAST Filmfestival is a world-class filmfestival with many events in the city.
Udine has a relatively compact old centre, with lots of nice shops/boutiques, cafes and not a charity shop in sight. Like all the towns we have visited, it is very clean and well kept. There is easy - and by UK standards - cheap underground parking at Piazza 1 Maggio. Though if you want to avoid using the car, there is a half hourly bus service (line 7) from the terminus in Godia (50 yards from the B&B) to the centre (Piazza 1 Maggio) - from where it is only a few steps through the old wall gate to the historic centre. The bus carries on to the railway station.
The historic centre of Udine is about 5 minutes walk from the Underground car park at Piazza 1 Maggie - which can be highly recommended (spacious, cheap and very modern. Udine is off the tourism track and all the more better for it. Attractive centre, with plenty of arcades and many fashion boutiques. A good reflection of Italian life style.
Easy parking, nice pool, clean room, comfy bed, awesome breakfast(really it was worth it) but most of all the staff! I happened to forget my Kindle Paperwhite there. Ms. Bascolo from the reservation and especially Mr. Toppazzini from the front desk were very helpful and prompt in organizing the return of my Kindle. It was such a seamless process. I appreciate the honesty and professionalism of the staff in this hotel. I am looking forward to staying again. Thank you!
I love this Hotel where I return each time I visit Udine. Rooms are newly renovated, clean and quiet. Staff at the reception is very nice, welcoming and ready to meet custom's request. Breakfast has a delightful variety of salted and sweet offers for all tastes. Being in the old center of udine, means one can find lots of restaurants and shops all at walking distance.
Udine
My friend and I stayed in Udine prior to our hike. The host, Cesare was so kind and helpful. He recommended a great pizza place nearby (which had amazing meloncello) and was able to arrange storage for us. The place was really conveniently located right by the station. The flat itself was spacious, and clean. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks again Cesare!
The perfect central location to spend time in Udine.. and has its own car park The hotel is comfortable and unpretentious, the staff are wonderful, the restaurant is actually one of the best we’ve been to whilst in Italy.. all home made and really delicious ! We loved it!
Udine
The room was small but charming, and very stylish. The location was incredible— you step out the door into a lively pedestrian street in Udine’s historic center. A terrific wine bar/ restaurant is on one side of the doorway, and a nice cafe on the other.
Good place to walk Udine old town, easy to park a car outside hotel. The hotel is older, little outdated. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The restaurant has very good food, although the interior is very specific and busy with one thousand items.
Hotel Principe is located conveniently near to the train and bus station in Udine. The hotel is a good budget option for a short stay. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Udine itself is a very interesting town and well worth visiting.
Great hotel for a stay at Udine. Very nice and friendly staff, good location and convenient parking. They have two AC chargers for electric cars (should really mention them on the hotel page) with very reasonable pricing.
Great location- very central to everything I wanted to see. Terrifically apportioned space- the kind of property I could easily see myself wanting to live in if I were somehow in Udine long-term! Good service, stylish too…
Beautiful country location in between Udine and Cividale del friuli. A great area to explore. Staff friendly and very helpful. A lovely breakfast was served. Would definitely return if in the area.
My experience at Quo Vadis Hotel in Udine was mixed. The reception staff were excellent, providing attentive service. Initially, the hotel seemed promising.
The apartment size was good overall. The skylight was nice and the location was really close to the main square in Udine.
An excellently run hotel, super friendly staff, outstanding breakfast buffet. The perfect hotel for a stay in Udine!!
