It was a very nice stay. The hotel is super close to the train station, so very practical for day trips, arrival and leave. But the double windows blocked the train sounds very good, I had no trouble sleeping. It is also quite close to the sea, so you can do seaside strolls or go to the shopping/ restaurant street near by. Obviously also a lot of Onsen near by. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

If you want to really feel like you are within an "onsen...

If you want to really feel like you are within an "onsen town", this could be the best in all of Japan. The view from the castle has you looking out over countless steam stacks, each indicating a spot with an onsen. Natural hot water flows through all of the city's drainage. Everyone seems to be relaxed and moving just a little more slowly. The whole city smells like an onsen right when you leave the train. It is a surreal city to be in and definitely worth visiting if you are spending any amount of time in Kyushu. The best onsen is "Hyotan Onsen", it is near the "7 Hells" and is something I will remember for my whole life!

Beppu has a lot to offer.

Beppu has a lot to offer. Our highlight was Takasakiyama Natural Zoological Garden. Watch about 900 Japanese macaques roam freely and interact with one another. They come down from the mountain, and you are in immediate proximity with them. A very ethical 'zoo'. We spent 2.5 hours there in amazement. It is set in a beautiful environment.

We loved three destinations in Beppu - Firstly, 'The Hells'...

We loved three destinations in Beppu - Firstly, 'The Hells' - 7 natural hot springs bubbling out of the Earth - in different, natural colours, depending on the mineral content! Spectacular! Secondly, the Kunisaki Peninsula. Takes a day to drive around or book a tour (operating only on Saturdays and Sundays). (Leaves from the train station.) Well worth it! You can book it via the Tourist Office - at the main rail station. Thirdly, take an ordinary, public bus (from the train station) up to Yufuin - an hour, picturesque trip, well worth it! Gorgeous mountains to see, and walking in the valley, up there - to a nearby, pretty lake.

The natural scenery is incredible and there are a surprising amount of attractions for a town its size. I really enjoyed every onsen I tried too. Public transit was not as good as other areas I went, but still plenty workable.

Probably worth renting a car to see the area since the transit isnt so great as the other big cities and you'll be waiting a while between activities to wait for a bus or train. Otherwise we found excellent food options and bars in Beppu. Oita was a close stop as well which brought some more options.

The seven hells is the main attraction I guess.

The seven hells is the main attraction I guess. As I understood, the springs are originally natural springs, but they have since been developed into quite - how should I say - managed sites. To accomodate such a large number of visitors, this has been a must I guess. Only visited two of the hells to get the point and definitely did not choose to visit the crocodile one based on some criticism on the conditions of the animals. Steam cooking our own meal was an interesting experience and visiting a local onsen was quite naturally a must-do in Beppu, both of which I recommend.

Everything about this hotel is great. The location is a 2 minute walk from Beppu station. Even in such a convenient and central location, it was quiet. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of choices and the restaurant and the hotel overall is very clean. I also enjoyed the onsen indoor and out, sauna and the complimentary ice lollies. The staff helped me with some restaurant bookings, though it took a while to completely communicate with them a couple of them due to language challenge and requested alternative by me, respectively.

This hotel is exceptional. I appreciated that the location was slightly away from all the attractions in its own quiet neighborhood, but others may prefer to stay in the midst of the Beppu sights. The food, facilities, onsen and staff were incredible and I am really looking forward to staying here again in the future. Incredible experience!

ideally localized in Beppu, in the middle of the famous jigoku onsens, It's a high class hotel with its own onsen that has a view over the city. I spent 500 USd her for a nigth but it was totally worth it: private bedroom onsen, good service, amazing view and localization, it was worth every penny. I should have booked 2 nights here.

Property is located very close to Beppu train station. Whilst the hotel is close to the shopping district, the area feels pretty dead at night. Our room came with breakfast included (this was fairly good), and hotel had a rooftop pool and onsen.

Indoor and outdoor onsen was really great and clean. All necessary facilities included. Room just fit 2 people and 2 large suitcases. Bus stops right next to the hotel or just across the road. Otherwise 10 minute walk to Beppu station.
