This was truly an exceptional and authentic experience. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, warm, and talkative, making us feel right at home. Miyuki was wonderful: very helpful; charming and a terrific cook! The place could be a little hard to find but Miyuki picked us up at the station and it turns out there's an easy 15-minute walk to Suda station that's not on Google maps. It's a semi-rural setting and quite peaceful and was a great base for us for a day at Koyasan. The facilities were very modern and spotless and Miyuki's breakfasts were wonderful. Highly reommended, if the location suits you (as it did us.)

The host is one of the most welcoming person we have met during our trip in Japan. She came to pick us up later than planned at Koyasan, according to our request. She came with her granddaughter and was very curious and open-minded. She prepared us delicious meals (for the dinner and for the breakfast), she is an excellent cook! She speaks a bit English, sufficiently to communicate and share about life and the Japanese culture. We had a wonderful stay at her place!

The area was beutiful with some lovely walks. Great for a relaxing time. The host realy went above and beyond. I don't think there is a walkable shop but the hotel is also a restaurant.

Ekoin Temple is a stunning piece of architecture and the rooms are absolutely wonderful. Despite the winter cold, we were able to keep the room warm with the provided heater. I loved the bathroom, very clean and comfortable and beautiful design. The futons were comfortable, service kind and attentive and the food was delicious. One night was way too short!
