    We explored the peninsula and went swimming in several places. At one beach, we rented snorkels and went snorkeling. There are also many lookout points where you can watch the sunset, some of which offer views of Mount Fuji.

    It has many places to visit.

    It has many places to visit. Of all, we love going up to Mt Omuro enjoying the view and walking round the crater. Jogasaki Coast which has great view of the rock formation. Cape Irozaki is another great place to visit! The Ryokan on the west side has great onsen and is unique too!

    Izu is a wonderful varied destination with great food ,beaches and outdoor things to do ,It is a good place to go when you need a break from thee heat and crowds of summer in Japan.I very much recommend visiting Terrace Orange in Toi..It's a unique building built as both a tsunami refuge and community center with a lovely cafe and a restaurant with some of the freshest and nicest food on our trip .The architecture is fabulous and there is even a footbath acing the sea.

    the scenery and the nature , soak it all in , give yourself a few days to relax and have down time and see the sights nearby . need to drive and if it snows ge snow tires, mountain roads were very windy

    This is a gem of a location for all sorts of travel fun just a couple of hours from the bustling mega city of Tokyo. Beaches and mountains, hiking trails and museums, great food and local sake, every kind of fun for a traveler awaits.

    There is a more to explore here than we realized.

    There is a more to explore here than we realized. Apart from hiking up hills for great views, we did not budget enough time for more sight-seeing. We had wanted to visit a wasabi farm but wound up at a wasabi market which was really cool with lots of wasabi based products - that was an experience in itself. Probably best explored by car.

    I came here with my partner and we loved our stay! Staff were very friendly, and we were able to easily book private/family Onsen during our stay without a wait, which we appreciated a lot as we aren’t big planners! It was very peaceful and clean. I enjoyed being able to hear the sound of crickets and being able to go onto the balcony of our room. It was a short walk to the seaside and felt like a very safe area. We hired a car so we were able to explore all around Izu from where we were :) we would absolutely stay again!

    This place is spectacular and it’s the second time we booked. If you are looking for a traditional Japanese inn/hotel this is the place to stay!! I would recommend this to anyone, it is by far the best place we stayed in Japan! I would like to make a special mention to Koike Takahiro who looked after us! He was the most fantastic host and staff member, he did so much to help us and make our stay amazing, he was just incredible! Don’t hesitate to book this place you won’t be disappointed it’s is phenomenal!

    An incredible experience in the Japanese countryside, on the Izu peninsula. Beautiful, traditional architecture (apparently in place since 1872!), in lush greenery, set on natural thermal baths (you bathe in so called onsens, in natural warm water). Stay includes preset breakfast and dinner menus, which are Michelin quality and would cost you 100s $ in Europe or America. So value for money is great too, even if the sticker price may seem high. Plus, staff is extremely attentive and polite.

    This was my second time here. I travel a lot in Japan and I have been to many ryokan but this one is my favourite! The first time I was here in January, it was cold but the kotatsu on the riverside was just perfect. This time it was summer, but it was not too hot. Both dinner and breakfast are insanely good and the private onsen (included in the price) are so relaxing. The room is clean, so relaxing. You can have yukata or samue. It is a 30min bus ride from Shuzenji station.

    Despite the room being a bit outdated, it's clean & very spacious. We had 2 tatami rooms for each couple. Each room can stay 4 or more person. The mountains view & traditional Japanese houses from our balcony were amazing. Shuzenji is a small rural area/town in Izu, but we were luck one of staff could speak Mandarin, which is of great help (we can speak only English or Mandarin).
