Kyoto had some of the best food that I've ever had and some of the nicest sites to view! I especially enjoyed all of the temples and shrines and the culture that the city seems to be steeped in. Kyoto is also definitely the most crowded of the places I visited, with a lot of more famous locations super packed. The train system definitely isn't as robust as some of the other cities and the buses were super packed as a result.

I like Arashimaya Bamboo forest but there was no time to find food there as the self guided tour was for only 1 hr ! If I ever want to return to that area again though I had been to the Bamboo forest twice, I would like to experience the Ricksaw ride to the Bamboo forest.

Kyoto is one of my favorite cities in Japan.

Kyoto is one of my favorite cities in Japan. So many great sites to explore there - the only problem is how overtaken by tourism it is as of late. While I am a tourist myself the main problem is that there are too many organized trips with large groups and this literally blocks up the city. It is no longer as confortable of a city as it used to be.

It can be very crowded, but a must see if you are interested in learning about the history of an ancient Japanese city. A very clean city with well behaved tourists from around the world. Felt safe but did not walk too far away from traffic areas when it was dark. One big tip... recommending a walking tour with a good Japanese guide. Given the deep and ancient history of the city we felt it was important to better understand the many temples and shrines - some that do not allow photos so a unique experience not to be found on social media. Exercise is an added benefit! The gardens are beautiful and ancient architecture truly remarkable. We went in the autumn and caught the colors. We hear spring cherry blossoms are also breathtaking. Of course these peak season are not a secret for the many tourists.

Love the hotel and rooms. Staff is friendly - special shout out to Joseph and everyone at the front desk always friendly, helpful and trying their best for the hotel guests. The cleaning staff is also great - always smiley and its great coming back to a nice, superbly tidied up room. Great location - peaceful and near train station and short drive away from major Kyoto attraction, such as Gion. Will always stay at this hotel when in Kyoto.

This is the best hotel that we've stayed at in Japan. It is more of a 4-5 star hotel. Beds were comfortable, staff were great, close by to the main attractions, shower was the best we've experienced in Japan, and they have a lounge with free drinks and snacks that is open till 10pm. Room size was also generous by Japan's standards. I highly recommend this hotel and will use it as a base next time.

This hotel was amazing, the rooms were so spacious and clean. The lounge area with complimentary drinks and snacks was a highlight, as it was a nice way to wind down after a big day of exploring. This should be a 5 star hotel, best one we have stayed at in Japan.

Property is close to the station, gion, and pontocho. The hotel staff is accommodating for english travellers. Basic amenities including multipurpose cream and bath salt are provided. Best thing I can say is their free daily sake. Makes it worth the stay!
