Kyoto is one of my favorite cities in Japan.

Kyoto is one of my favorite cities in Japan. So many great sites to explore there - the only problem is how overtaken by tourism it is as of late. While I am a tourist myself the main problem is that there are too many organized trips with large groups and this literally blocks up the city. It is no longer as confortable of a city as it used to be.

It can be very crowded, but a must see if you are interested in learning about the history of an ancient Japanese city. A very clean city with well behaved tourists from around the world. Felt safe but did not walk too far away from traffic areas when it was dark. One big tip... recommending a walking tour with a good Japanese guide. Given the deep and ancient history of the city we felt it was important to better understand the many temples and shrines - some that do not allow photos so a unique experience not to be found on social media. Exercise is an added benefit! The gardens are beautiful and ancient architecture truly remarkable. We went in the autumn and caught the colors. We hear spring cherry blossoms are also breathtaking. Of course these peak season are not a secret for the many tourists.

Kyoto is an amazing city , full of shrines and awesome tourist sights. My advise is to stay longer and explore the area on foot. the city is a little gem and there's lots of hidden gems off the tourist trail....go explore and eat where the locals eat...better food and prices too....Take your time , relax , have a coffee and watch the world go by.....

We love Kyoto for its scenery surroundings, the history and stories behind those shrines and temples. Four days are not long enough to see all. We will continue to visit those temples/museums on our list in our next Japan trip. One of the restaurants we strongly recommend is 洋面屋 五右卫门 (sorry, I can not find the Traditional way of Chinese-looking spelling) 075-708-6431 . Their seafood spaghetti is surprisingly tasty and the restaurant atmosphere is super.

We loved Kyoto. You need to visit places early in the day . By 9am the crowds visiting sites can become overwhelming. One of our most memorable moments of our whole trip was experiencing a Tea Ceremony with a Geisha.

Me and mum loved the small but perfect reception area after a 3 week Japan trip. we stayed in much bigger and fancier hotels along the way but we both agreed this was the best for chilling out when your legs hurt and you just want to relax not only in your room. The chai/ ginger ice cream was AMAZING, I’m a chef and never had that combo! Music was perfect and the staff were very friendly and welcoming!!! X Rooms were small on size but decor was welcoming and comfortable! Easy access to small tube station, 1 stop from central station.

1. The luxurious toilets. Better than most 5 star hotels. 2. The excellent location. One minute walk to sanjo Station which is along keihan line which will bring you to most famous sights in kyoto. 3. Close to car rental shop. Do a day trip out with driving. Taxis are everywhere as well. 4. Excellent location again. Walk to gion, nishiki, kamo river, pontocho, ninenzaka, kiyumizudera, shopping area at kawarachi. 5. Huge beds and room. Our room accommodated 2 adults and 2 kids for 4 nights comfortably. Rooms are quiet and clean.

Firstly I loved the look and feel of this hotel, it felt very traditional and true to the Kyoto area with a modern twist. The onsen (traditional hot spring pool) was amazing and felt like a luxury which many other more expensive hotels don’t have. The room although simple was lovely (although it felt a bit smaller than the pictures). Breakfast was good (but not the best we had compared to the hotels we stayed in Japan). Finally the location was perfect, just minutes away from the Gion district and many restaurants and temples.

The staff is great, you can ask them questions at any time. The hotel is very well located, just a few minutes from the shopping streets, the metro, and the train station. Definitely one of our best hotels during our trip
