Superlative location, right in front of Matsushima bay. The place is quiet and incredible, the staff are so kind and patient (despite of my basic Japanese, they have always tried to help me), the service is excellent. They have also adjusted the delicious breakfast for me (gluten and lactose intolerance). The room was big and with a magic view. In the main hall there is a souvenir shop with a lot of things and local products to buy. If you want, is possible to reserve and enjoy the private onsen (open-air!). This is definitely the best hotel in Matsushima! どうもありがとうございます。

Lovely property in Matsushima. Exceptional panoramic views over the Matsushima Bay from many of the rooms (room-wide windows). Comfortable and clean rooms, lovely main dining area and multiple other restaurants - and a huge lobby with floor to ceiling windows and a plenty of seats to admire the bay from. Nice gardens around the hotel and a very practical and sizeable grocery/souvenirs shop in the hotel lobby. Relaxed type of a hotel, with an onsen and yukatas (included in the room) being worn casually all through the hotel. Free and comfortable regular shuttle bus connection to Matsushimakaigan JR station. Otherwise, just a 15 mins walk from the station (mind though, partially uphill) and 20 mins walking to the central pier for the ferries. Lovely island with interesting historical shinto artifacts just opposite and 10 mins walking from the hotel. Wide buffet choice, esp. seafood. Very nice receptionists and restaurant personnel, who do their best to make the guests feel comfortable and take the extra mile with translations, to reduce the language barrier. Thank you !

Everything is amazing. It is expensive, but you get what you pay. I recommend staying for at least 2 nights. I stayed for only one night, and I think I could have enjoyed more (like the gardens and the free rental bike service) if I had more time. Having said that,I thoroughly enjoyed my bedroom, the lounge, restaurant, the baths. The free all you can eat ice cream in the lounge was also a positive surprise.

Walking over the long bridge to Fukuurajima and then walking around the island was very enjoyable and gave a better view of the other islands in the bay than we got from the boat trip. There were evening light displays in the two temples when we were visiting; they were both lovely - we enjoyed the visit to Entsuin the most, perhaps, partly because of the great recital (Japanese flute and harps)

Scenic little town with lots to view.

Scenic little town with lots to view. We walked the town and explored all the tourist sights. Took a short boat ride around the bay for 1000¥ ,if you want to sit upstairs on boat you’ll need to pay another 600¥. Main Shrine currently under renovation

Our hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was great - so much nicer to have a traditional Japanese room than tiny modern hotel. The place was a little out of the busy center but that suited us to include some walking

Loved this Ryokan beautiful location overlooking the bay. Several onsen to choose from and excellent Japanese food. The tatami room was beautiful very relaxing stay.
