Chojukan has excellent quality water, at perfect temperature. The outside onsen mostly operates as women-only (men only before 7 am). The rooms in the old building are small but well maintained, and the sink is inside (toilet outside). Meals are simple, executed very nicely. In sum, the waters are the main attraction.

We liked everything about Bettei Senjyuan!! It was simply stunning. You can check in from 1pm and we would highly recommend you do. The property was aesthetically beautiful and the luxury touches made this fairly expensive stay completely value for money. The onsen - private and public - were amazing. Loved being tucked away from town on the orchard. The apples and apple juice were delicious and the owners were super helpful as we had an injury to deal with (a trip to the hospital), and they even gave the sorry sore one a lift home. Amazing hospitality. Would definitely recommend. Very comfortable and spacious with all the required appliances

It was a lovely place to visit!

It was a lovely place to visit! We climbed up to the Tenjin observation deck from the trail that begins behind a small shrine. It’s a challenging climb but well-marked and there are ropes the whole way to help pull yourself up tricky parts. We ate at the little Italian restaurant near Tanigawa Lodge and Coffee Roastery which I highly recommend, the pasta is great and they make homemade plum wine. I wish I could have done one more day to enjoy the onsens too.

While waiting for the shuttle bus to pick us up in Jomo Kogen, we got suggestion from the lady officer in Information Center to visit Tsukiyono garden. We came in mid April 2025 and there are still a lot of sakura. whereever you shoot your camera, the result of the photo is amazing. there is also a small grocery that serve udon/ramen as well. I bought a watermelon in that grocery and the lady in Udon stall lend me her knife to cut it. the watermelon is very small, compared to what I used to eat in Indonesia, but this minakami watermelon is very juicy and its flesh is so thick yet tender.

Amazing picturesque location!

Amazing picturesque location! Mineral water was natural and wonderful. Be prepared to sleep on a futon on the floor, but other than that very comfortable. People are very nice anyways in Japan, but the staff here was particularly helpful and accommodating. Free shuttle bus from Jomo-Kogen was a real plus which enabled us to get there from Tokyo via Shinkansen. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Thank you super nice lady at the front desk who greeting me upon arrival and during all my stay which make me feel welcome. The mountain view of the outdoor onsen, the snow falling down, was incredible. Very good food quality and hospitality of serving staff. Disliked · No access to snow area in the hotel

Great place for skiing.

Great place for skiing. We tried Houdaigi Ski area and Minakami kogen200 ski resort. Both were excellent. Houdaigi is just a ski area with a restaurant and gift shops. The ski slopes are good. Minakami kogen200 is a hotel with attached ski area, which makes it a ski resort I guess. It's hard to find vegetarian or vegan food in these areas though.

The location is fantastic, with easy access to tanigawa ropeway and also doai station making it convenient to explore the area. The owner is very kind. We liked the fantastic nature surrounding the property. The outside Onsen, with several hot springs to choose from, was very relaxing, with the river flowing by it and the lush forest/ mountain on both sides. We stayed in the old building and enjoyed it very much. The authentic dinner and breakfast were also very good. Very friendly staff!

We loved our stay at Mirise, clean house in the heart if minakami and 15mins drive from everywhere. House was impeccably clean, fully equipped with all you can think of and spacious enough for 4-6 people, best of all: dog friendly !! Response yo any questions was also very fast, usually within a few hours (despite some late hours!)
