Wonderful stay at this temple, outside of time. My room was spacious and very beautiful, right next to the prayer room of the temple. The futon was comfortable and the food really good both at dinner and breakfast. The priest welcomed me and walked me to the tomb of the master of Minobu, and also helped me to explain how to participate in the morning prayers at the main hall. I wish I could have stayed there for a few days.

The entire experience was much more than expected. The head priest was exceptionally welcoming and inclusive. Extremely patient, generous, and gracious host. As an European we loved Shimobe Hotel. We visited hotel to feel like Japanese people during vacation, and it was brilliant. We could dip our feet in hot water watching koi fish pool, we were invited to mash rice to make rice cakes during evening animations, and there is beautiful stone outdoor onsen. Everything was far beyond our expectations, and I recommend Shimobe Hotel to everyone seeking calmness, relax and friendly atmosphere in traditional Japanese style

We didn't realize how remote the location was, but the staff went above and beyond to help us get to the festival. The facility is spotless, and the Olsen was amazing. We left early and didn't have breakfast, but dinner was delicious with a lot of variety.

It is hard to find something we didn't like honestly. Great accommodation all around. The room was clean, comfortable, well equipped, even had Japanese pajamas ready on the bed. Water and glasses, incredible Mount Fuji view from the room or the balcony upstairs. The whole house was extremely clean. The common room had a giant TV with Netflix, YouTube and even Disney. All the people that we met inside the house were extremely friendly, starting from the staff to the guests. The bathrooms were extremely well equipped, especially for the ladies, with feminine hygiene products. The water pressure in the shower was unbelievable. They offered to take us from the station and back, even to visit the town free of charge. They even offered us some traditional Thai food as one of the owners is Thai. The room downstairs is traditional Japanese with tatami floors and everything. Electric bike rent service was available to explore the rural side of Japan and it was gorgeous. Everything was just amazing and if you choose to stay here, don't forget to write your name on the map and something nice in the memory notebook.
