Wonderful stay! We were warmly welcomed by the sweet owner who explained to us everything we needed to know. He deserves all the credits as he did everything from bringing us dinner, extra sauces and plates to cleaning the bathroom before we used it. The tent is spacious and well equipped as well as the terrace. The shared space (kitchen, shower, bathroom) is newly equipped and very clean. We reserved dinner for each night of our stay. I highly recommend reserving at least once dinner as it was delicious. We received more than enough of high quality food we could grill and were lucky to receive once wagyu beef 🥩! Overall, we had a blissful experience at ties Camp Ground Nagiso 😁

Great location for anyone exploring the Nakasendo trail, MOUNTAinn is right beside Nagiso station. Staff is very welcoming and accomodating, we asked with a short notice if they could come earlier for check in and they agreed right away. The house is very pretty, clean and big, with comfy beds and cosy common area. The little terrace with a stunning view is absolutely fabulous for a morning coffee. There are also some magazines and books to read, and a CD/ radio player which makes it feel very homy. There are 2 sinks and 2 shower rooms which is convenient for bigger groups of travellers. We had a fantastic stay!

Lovely staff and gorgeous, typically Japanese hotel with wonderful views and atmosphere. We didn't eat but we should have as the dining looked amazing when we walked past! One of the nicest onsens I've had in a long time (and I've had many!).

This beautiful preserved building holds many stories and you can feel it when you sit in the still courtyard with a view of the misty mountains. Careful consideration has been put into curating the space to make it feel homey and calm. Fukuta Yasuhiro (the host) shared local wine and sake with us in the charming kitchen and we all gained more insight into the history of the Nakesendo trail. I wish we could have stayed longer. Kampei!

They style and quality of the accommodation, plus the location in Nagiso, giving easy access to the shops, restaurants and train station. Also very much liked the audio system, tv projector and access to Netflix and Amazon. Some very nice touches.

An incredible team of hosts that accommodated everything we could have asked for and went above and beyond. The house itself is stunning and has beautiful views over nagiso from many of the rooms, cannot recommend this place enough, the photos don't do it justice.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful hotel with us TommySan @ame_nakasendo Ame-Nakasendo is a private whole-house rental inn it is an amazingly inviting location to stay, located at the end of our scenic walk along the beautiful valley trek from Magome to Tsumago. TommySan and his family have brilliantly renovated an 150 year old traditional Japanese kominka. Transforming the whole building back into an amazing unique space and a beautifully designed take on a traditional Japanese Inn. @ame_nakasendo is nestled beside nature, a stone’s throw from the Kiso River valley, the inn truly offers a glimpse into the local life and a deep connection to the natural beauty and lifestyle of Japans Kiso river, countryside and community spirit. We only wish that we had allowed ourselves a longer stay. Maybe next time? Keep in touch TommySan. Stu & Yanti

This was a lovely property. Such a great location opposite the Nagiso Train Station, and on the Nakasendo Trail. Perfectly clean and tonnes of space. Fully equiped kitchen. Great communication from staff who kindly let us check in as soon as cleaning was finished and also gave us tips on where to eat. Very much recommended.

Nagiso is a small village , and a convenient stop when walking from Magome and Tsumago when hiking the nakasendo. ( accommodation in those two villages is very difficult to obtain). Excellent cafe across from the station but there was only one restaurant open on the night we were there , mid week.

Nagiso itself is an unremarkable city, but the surrounding area, the so called 'Japanese Alps' is fantastic. One can visit Tsumago, a preserved ancient Japanese style village, where one can even book a ryokan with kaiseki (excellent Japanese style) dinner, for an overnight stay. The famous 'Nakasendo trail', a 10 km walk in gorgeous countryside, from Magome to Tsumago is a major attraction of the region. Magome can be reached by public bus from Nagiso or Tsumago.

Visited three areas this time: Narai-juku/ Tsumago-juku/...

Visited three areas this time: Narai-juku/ Tsumago-juku/ Magome-juku: all are very nicely reserved areas and the hotel is located close except for Narai-juku (70km away). Had a 100% Soba twice at lunch nearby : both are very good. Dropped in several Michi-no-Eki and bought local foods and items at half of them.

A small, authentic village.

A small, authentic village. People mostly use it as a starting point on the Nakasendo Trail, but it's worth a visit: suspension bridge, gardens, village behind, and wonderful people!

It was amazing.

It was amazing. My family of three went to Minami Kiso for three days and two nights to see the starry sky. Unfortunately, due to the unfortunate weather, we were unable to see the starry sky. However, on the day we were leaving, the sky happened to clear up around 2:30 AM, and we were able to enjoy the full moon. Hostel Yui-an, where we stayed, was the best in every way. The renovated old house, the staff, and the people we stayed with. We had a wonderful time. I plan to stay there again.
