Very impressive!! We had a very pleasant time staying here. The room had enough space even for 2 kids and 2 adults. Nice location, just walk straight from train station. Breakfast and service were excellent. You can walk around; surrounded by shops and restaurants.

Location is a little bit far away from the train station but it’s still good for us. The room is clean but still have a little bit dirty for example the chair has dirt, I think it’s cause of the hotel have years. The breakfast is pretty good but if they have a bit more of the western style food is much better.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect, making it easy to get around and explore. The view from my window was stunning – a true highlight of my experience. Niigata is a refreshing small city, and the river has...

Niigata is a refreshing small city, and the river has beautiful views of both sides. Each side of the river has green pedestrian and bicycle rider paths. There is easy access to the Performing Arts Center with its living rooftop garden on it's oval shaped building. Hakusan Park is not to be missed - an oasis away from the hubbub of office and city life! Complete with a lotus pond, bridges, a large temple, Tori gates, and a pond with a wisteria-covered bridge. Very scenic. There are the shops on Furumachidori - a covered avenue with adorable shops, bronze figures of baseball players, and the Japan Animation and Manga College is on this avenue. Along this dori you might see a box of turtles sunning on the sidewalk!

I've been extremely lucky, I was in Niigata after a snowstorm and I found an amazing scenery of beaches under a white carpet. The fisherman market is an experience you should not miss, delicious food and crazy cheap bill. Try to drive the coastline!

Niigata is a lovely place with warm people but be prepared to travel by bus. To be more flexible make sure that you arrange a rental bike as this city doesn't have the subway lines you may be used to from Osaka or Tokyo.

Nigatta was a much slower pace. Feels like Sunday everyday. Chilled. It has fabulous restaurants and little local bars, great scenery. Definitely worth a visit for a few days. The bullet train ride from Tokyo to Niigata had lots of beautiful scenery along the way. So glad we decided to visit here on our third trip to Japan. Incredibly easy to get around with such an efficient bus service.

I spent 2 nights in Niigata because the hotel I wanted was...

I spent 2 nights in Niigata because the hotel I wanted was booked out. I recommend spending there at least three nights. I visited Yahiko, a city nearby, which has a gorgeous park with Momiji trees, it was beautiful at the end of October. However, I had only a small amount of time for Niigata itself.

I feel that the directions inside the station are unhelpful...

I feel that the directions inside the station are unhelpful to tourists from outside the prefecture. Since buses are the main mode of transportation within the city, I'd like to see signs that let people know where to go as soon as they exit the ticket gates. Also, the station floor area is large, and there are several staircases to descend, but it's difficult to know where to go and what to find. I'd like to see a floor plan in a location that's easily visible once you exit the ticket gates. Depending on the exit you use, there are some that don't have elevators or escalators, which is inconvenient for people who can't use stairs. People have to walk long distances unnecessarily.

Location is a bit far from Niigata station, but it's ok for a short walk. The staff at the hotel are some of the best I have seen in all Japan and what makes this hotel great. Breakfast was also very nice and with quite a few options, the people working at breakfast service are really nice. Would stay again only for how the staff treated us and how nice the breakfast was.

We always stay at this JR hotel when we are in Niigata. It is very easy to find from the train station and is very close to several shops we enjoy going to. Our room was very spacious - very easy to relax in and wind down after a day of traveling by train. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good!
