The accommodation was a short drive to Ginzan Onsen and near local restaurants of Obanazawa city. Highly recommended for budget friendly trip to Yamagata. Staff were also very accommodating. The location is super nice! Love how environmentally friendly they are. Great breakfast as well! Not so many options but you can tell they are nicely made. A great breakfast for a traveller is needed.

Lovely cosy place that is a walking distance from JR Yamagata station and other major city attractions. Toilets and rooms were clean and well priced with all the basic facilities you need. Best part about it was the staff and the dinner. Every night, the staff would cook a free dinner that all the guest can join in, was a great chance to mingle in front of a wood stove. Premise has parking space and a lovely garden just behind it! Premise also has cats!

It was one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. The guesthouse is owned by a family and so the minute I stepped in I felt welcomed. The guesthouse is in the same building as a recently renovated high school which has so many amazing facilities like a laundromat, shower rooms, cafe, study space, huge kitchen etc. The guesthouse itself is clean, cozy and well decorated (as a game design & technology student, I was super excited by the rows of retro games/console!). The guesthouse is quiet and the people are lovely and there was a huge common area to hang out in. The lockers provided to each guest are also really big so I could fit everything in there. The guesthouse is also really close to the station and a Lawson which is great too.

PRICE: Given that the price included a buffet breakfast, I would definitely say that it is one of the best hotel rates I've found. LOCATION: There is a nearby Starbucks and Max Valu supermarket accessible on foot within 10-15 minutes. Across from Starbucks is Road Station Tendo Onsen, which has a bookstore, a coffee shop, and a big souvenir shop. Within walking distance from the hotel are two foot baths (I think). ROOM: The room can probably accommodate two adults. MATTRESS: The bed was quite firm. It's perfect for me because I like this kind of bed. ROOM AMENITIES: In addition to the usual amenities, I liked it that there were power outlets at the bed headboard. STAFF: The staff at the reception when I checked in was very helpful. They were friendly and smiled a lot. Check in was smooth. So was the check out. BUFFET BREAKFAST: Plenty of choices for a typical Japanese breakfast: rice, egg, grilled fish, Japanese curry, sausages, salad, miso soup, porridge. Drink choices included tea, milk, and orange juice. There are also some bread options with usual jams. INDOOR ONSEN: The onsen was one of the main reasons I booked this hotel. It was a decent size and was a great way to end the day. RELAXATION AREA: There was also a relaxation room just outside the onsen rooms which had two massage chairs, plenty of vending machines.

Charming and lovely. Staff were extremely thoughtful and the breakfast was exceptionally diverse. Rooms are spacious and location by the station makes it ideal for travellers wanting to explore Tendo
