The house is absolutely wonderful, it seems to come out from anime!! Personally I had it all for myself, but it's so big it's great also for families! Yukie-San, the owner, was so welcoming and went above and beyond to help me in every possible way, from the amenities, to local gifts, to tips where to eat, what to try and experience. She even helped me with the links and maps positions of so many places and was always quick at answering! I promise you'll feel at home here and won't regret staying here even if it's just for a couple of nights!

Only stayed here one night, and thought it would be more interesting to stay here instead of Fukui city. It's only 1 bus ride to the dinosaur museum (...and some extra walking. Or just 2 bus rides). The lady who helped me checked in was extremely friendly, and it was only me and one other person staying there at the time. It was very quiet, especially the neighbourhood. Very clean, rustic, and comfortable to stay at. It's a very small town with little to do, but given the oppurtunity, I would stay here again.

The food, the decor, the town, the whole area was extremely pleasant and I also arrived during the spring festival which made the experience that much better. The host was extremely helpful and polite and made my time in the city great, they even offered to drive me and my friend to the train station, saving us time and back pain from all our luggage. Great hospitality in a lovely Guest House.

Themed hotel was super cool for my young kid. The was a cool kids play area that opened recently, good place to burn some leftover energy! The new rooms were modern and clean. It was also very spacious which was a nice change compared to the more populated metro areas

This was fantastic. The room and all facilities were super clean and nice. And the dinosaur details were really cool. The owners are very kind and helpful. They also provide breakfast, drinks, ice cream and other things for cooking if you want to use the kitchen.

I think Ono is a lovely small town with extremely friendly...

I think Ono is a lovely small town with extremely friendly people. Ｗhen you go climbing to the castle, people say hi as they walk by (which is pretty rare in Japan in my opinion). When you go visit the morning market, the obachan starts to chat with you about their lives and families. The water in Ono is one of the best in Japan. Therefore everything I tried has been super tasty (soba, soy katsudon, sake, wine, dango, coffee, rice...literaily everything.). If you are a foodie, I recommend to make it a two or three day trips at least cuz there's no way to try everything in a day😆

There are restaurants close to the inn, and the water is delicious. Don't underestimate the water; it's served for free in the server, and while it's delicious for coffee and tea, the water itself is very gentle. It's hard to explain unless you've tried it... Near the inn (about a 5-minute walk) there is a pond where "threadfish" grow naturally. Sticklebacks are fish that live in places with such clean water that "summer water temperatures fall below 20°C, and they live in clear streams and ponds that originate from springs." Be sure to check it out when you visit!

It was my first time there, and I noticed that there were springs all over the town, and that they were carefully maintained by the residents. It's a compact town, but everything is within walking distance, including the castle, springs, temples, restaurants, liquor stores, and souvenir shops. It was wonderful. There were also vintage clothing stores, select shops, cafes, and coffee shops, which was great. It seems you can also go to a super public bath or a fossil excavation experience by car, which is very appealing. I would love to see them make a keychain featuring Water Megumin.

It's a wonderful castle town, also known as Little Kyoto.

It's a wonderful castle town, also known as Little Kyoto. There are four sake breweries still in existence. A morning service is held every day, not aimed at tourists. The town is rich in groundwater, with spring water available everywhere. This is likely why sake breweries remain. There's nothing in front of the station, so you should buy souvenirs in the city center. Fukui Station doesn't sell souvenirs, or even bento boxes. In fact, it might not be the kind of place you'd go by train. There's only one train from Fukui every two hours, and connecting with the Thunderbird is tricky. Apparently, it gets very snowy in the winter, making it quite difficult.
