FAQs about hotels in Osaka

A Stronghold of Japanese Culture

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.

However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.

The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.

The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.

The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

Felt like this area was more of a shopping and eating, I guess it depended where your hotel was located. Our hotel was located more near anime character retailers and places to eat and close (21 min) walk to lots of shopping streets. Most of the people working at the retail shops were really friendly and helpful, even the ones in Hep 5 area. We did run into our share of rude locals and a rude racist tourist especially little children. Bad behavior include pushing and cutting us in line even though clearly there is a line of people present.

We fell in love with Osaka on our first visit in spring that's why we booked a second trip this winter. It's a perfect mix of culture and technology. We had great meal everywhere we eat, whether it's ramen, rice bowl, or street foods. The locals are very polite and they try their best to communicate. Trying to get around is easy. The train system is a little bit confusing and daunting at first, but easy once you understand the system. Just follow the signs and use Google Map. Getting to nearby areas like Nara, Kyoto and Kobe is just a train ride away.

Places we visited were Wakayama electric train, Nara, Kyoto and Uji, In Osaka we visited Umeda sky, Osaka castle, Osaka aquarium, Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi district. We tried various kinds of rice balls like inari and onigiri from local supermarket and also Lawsons, 7 eleven, okinomaya, kura sushi, ramen without pork, pepper lunch and even Macdonalds to compare with our Aussie maccas. Not to worry if you are vegetarian, you will definitely find something that suits in the never ending line up of restaurants, starbucks, burger joints. Osaka train system is not very difficult once we got the hang of it. Google maps sometimes confusing when checking against the maps inside train stations as the orientation might be upside down, something to take note. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our first trip and cannot wait to return in the near future.

Osaka was the loudest and busiest part of our Japan trip in a very good way. We found the shopping to be excellent (much better selection and pricing of vintage designer goods compared to Tokyo) and the nightlife was all that we hoped it would be. It was incredibly convenient to get around, and the river running through was lovely (especially at night).

We went to Osaka for USJ and had a wonderful time that day! Apart from USJ, we enjoyed strolling through Amerikura. Dotonbori was nice but not spectacular but could be because it was the end of our trip and we have already seen so much.

The public transportation is the most efficient...

The public transportation is the most efficient transportation I have been to so far. The city has everything you need, you really just need to bring yourself! The food is amazing, tho there are lots of tourist traps at the markets which is sad as I am someone who likes to experience to eat where the locals go. The river walk area in Dotonbori is full of trash, I just hope the tourists refrain from leaving their trash everywhere! It used to be so clean.

The hotel is very close to the action of Namba, as well as Denden Town. There are lots of trendy small businesses under the train tracks which we could take advantage of. Also, king beds are pretty rare at Japanese hotels, so we liked that. There is a rooftop which is open to guests, and they have a bar open throughout the day; we didn't go when the bar was open, so not sure of the prices or anything, but the view from the rooftop was nice. Only 2 pillows were provided, but when I asked for more, they were provided by the hotel staff.

I didn't have breakfast much as I was up and about earlier than 6:30 for most of the days there. However, the location was great - easy access to Shin-Osaka train station in a 5 minute walk on the Midosuji Subway line, which lets you get to key train stations like Namba and Umeda within the city centre for attractions like Dotonbori and the Umeda Sky Building. Shin-Osaka train station is also well-positioned for the JR lines across Japan, allowing for day trips to places like Kyoto and Hiroshima.

Located very close to the popular Dotonbori street which is a bustling entertainment district in Osaka, located along a canal in the Namba district. The hotel is a self-service (self check-in and cehck-out) kind but the room is stocked with everything you need including a washer/dryer, smart TV, fully functional kitchenette, etc.

The property is very nice and modern. I liked the room as it felt more spacious than most hotels in Japan, especially for the cheap price. The staff was also very nice and they had a lot of amenities If necessary. 15 min walk to Namba station which has a direct train line for Kansai International Airport if you fly from Osaka.

One of our favourite hotels that we stayed at from our Japan trip. Definitely value for money, the hotel facilities were great and the room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were helpful to us. Only a 10 or so minute walk to Dotonbori and a 5 minute walk to Namba station. We loved it here!
