Terrible . No air conditioning. A tiny room with just enough room for 4 Japanese style beds next to each other. My feet even touched the table. I knew Japan was usually cramped, but I couldn't imagine it could be this small. This was my mistake. Never coming back to this area!

Nestled in the heart of Suhara, this impeccably preserved traditional house offers a truly immersive experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Japan. What a nice ryokan! Bigger than expected. It even has an elevator! Beautiful interior and the room itself is so spacious and fully equipped. We did enjoy public bath, luckily we were the only visitors there, yay! Outdoor bath is absolutely incredible with a lovely view on the village! It is not that hot as the huge bath inside so I spent a lot of time open air. It was quiet and relaxing, I could see the moon and stars in the sky while sitting in the warm water - unforgettable experience. We had a great rest here, many-many thanks! A special hearty thank you to the Lady (I guess she is the owner) who welcomed us, she tried hard to help us find a place to eat, was very nice, kind and careful about everything so we could feel ourselves as much comfortable as possible.

Included dinner & breakfast were excellent. It's 20 minutes from Kiso-fukushima station, but they have shuttle service. 3:30pm or 5pm from train station to the ryokan. 9:30am from the ryokan to train station (there's only one shuttle service in the morning). You need to arrange shuttle service before you arrive. It's surrounded by beautiful mountains. I would stay again if I come back to Kiso-fukushima.

It was a very well renovated 150year old traditional Japanese house. Facilities inside are fully modern especially the kitchen, shower toilet, heating and cooling systems, lighting. The beds and futons were all clean and v comfortable. The host, Ken Ito San, introduced us to the house especially as foreigners we needed some tips. He also helped us book dinner at an izakaya called Yasohachi nearby. Superb meal there by Chef Takahashi. We enjoyed the clean crisp country air and the starry skies. Definitely re stay if in this area.
