Wonderful countryside and mountain trails for hiking.

Wonderful countryside and mountain trails for hiking. No bears which helps. Interesting museums and Samurai history. We got stuck here longer due to rough seas and ferry cancellation - BUT who would want lo leave anyway?

Unfortunately, Rishiri Fuji was covered in clouds all day.

Unfortunately, Rishiri Fuji was covered in clouds all day. There are few transportation options other than rental cars, so advance planning is necessary. The route around the island is monotonous, just going around once, so it would have been nice if it had been a little more organized. It's also a little disappointing that it takes several days to get to Rebun Island and back to Wakkanai due to ferry times. Our goal was to see sea urchins, but unfortunately, it wasn't the right time of year. From the bus, we happened to see some ordinary fishermen peeling the sea urchins they had caught, and it would be nice to see more scenes like that. I thought about visiting several times, but felt bad about it, so I refrained. I wanted to see them.
