Most interesting places like Furano, Daisetsuzan and noboribetsu are not close to Sapporo even with self-drive trips. So don’t base your self in Sapporo as it is far from its own airport anyway. Stay in Sapporo if you want to explore its surrounding areas.

Less touristy than other places in Japan, but a good base for visiting places like Furano, Hakodate, Noboribetsu. We went there during the summer festival which was great, and the shopping centre at the main station is very good.

it was okay, but definitely not a city that showcases japanese culture. the parks and gardens are beautiful, shopping is okay, public transport excellent. it is easy to find delicious food at very affordable prices.

Next time I’d spent 4 days and rent a car to explore the o it skirts of the city. Getting around the city is super easy by walking or local transportation. I’d also eat more ice cream there…such different flavors compared to everywhere else. Loved being at the river where we dipped our feet in to cool down from the summer heat.

    This city is 'just right.'

This city is 'just right.' We loved Tokyo, but it was a little too big. Sapporo was just about the right size to provide everything we needed, but not make us feel like we were being 'swallowed up' by it's size. Odori park was beautiful, the food options were endless, there were plenty of places to explore, and as an added bonus, the Soren festival was taking place, which added to the excitement of the city. Suskino had the night life we enjoyed without being a little 'too much' like Shinjuku in Tokyo. (I'm not down on Tokyo, we loved that, but there was something about Sapporo that we just loved. We are already talking about going back for the Winter Festival sometime in the future.

Nice city. It is not too crowded.

Nice city. It is not too crowded. Though I met many Chinese and Korean tourists. I hardly saw any Indian or for that matter any other tourists. Nakajima Koen and Odori park are great to explore. I spent hours in the park. Cloak tower nothing great but famous meeting place. Otaru town and boat ride is great, very touristy and great food. Will visit these places again in Winter.

The amenities corner was well-stocked with nice toiletries. I also enjoyed the free flow coffee from the coffee machine in the lounge. If you’re lucky, you may even score a popsicle or two. There is no daily cleaning of rooms, but you do get a fresh change of towels and pyjamas every day. I liked the location. The hotel has on-site parking for ¥1000/night and is connected to the underground walkways between the JR Sapporo station all the way to Odori. I can see how this would be useful during the winter months.

It's a big hotel and the staff are very professional, as the name suggest there's a lot of grand things here. Staff were lovely and helped us with our bags and check in was smooth. Beds were comfortable and room was spacious, free water every day and an option for a full room clean or just clean towels etc. Location wise it's very close to a few sites, the Sapporo clock tower, Ōdōri park and the TV Tower. We didn't try the restaurant or anything there so can't comment on that.

Beautiful hotel with a room overlooking the park and the Sapporo Tower which was lit up at night. Plenty of space in the room, extremely clean with lots of bathroom amenities provided. The hotel has a minimalist vibe with a record player in each room and a choice of albums to play from the downstairs library. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel one night and the food was beautifully presented and delicious, although expensive. Easy walking to the shops and local restaurants.

The JR Inn Sapporo Kita 2 Jo is a 10-minute walk from the Sapporo train station. For our December 2023 stay, we trundled our suitcases across many icy and some cleared sidewalks and were greeted by very friendly front desk staff. The hotel is spotless, rooms are modern, simple and clean, small by American standards (but larger than many Japanese hotels), and everything we needed was provided. It was fun to pick out pillows from the pillow library!

Location as its only 7min to Sapporo Jr Station but the Residence Grand Stripe is secluded from main street. For the value pricing it's ok. Has both heater & aircon but the air contd not properly fixed. Plus point is the bathroom with bathtub is separated from toilet bowl. This Airbnb is good for family and kitchen utensil for cooking is chargeable upon request. Would come to stay again in future
