As the hotel is classified as a business hotel I expected a small but comfortable room as per the usual Japanese business hotel. However the twin room we were given was the biggest room I've experienced in Japan for this type of hotel! Even the toilet was spacious in comparison to many others I've come across in business hotels. The breakfast provided was buffet style and was of a high quality and very generous in the amount of food and variety provided. The location of the hotel was almost perfect being only 5 minutes walk from the station and 1 minute to a large supermarket. In addition all the sites to see were very close by. Being of larger Western body type I especially enjoyed the provision of a yukata size that actually fitted me well. Thanks New Palace!!

The room was lovely and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. They also have excellent service- I accidentally left my power bank behind and they very helpfully sent it to my next hotel within a couple of days. Would go again!

Fantastic Stay – Convenient, Clean & Thoughtful! I had a wonderful experience at this guest house and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area! 1️⃣ Great Location: The place is super convenient—just a short walk from the station and close to major attractions. There’s even a Lawson convenience store nearby, making it easy to grab snacks or essentials. 2️⃣ Spotlessly Clean: The room and shared spaces were immaculate, which made my stay very comfortable. This is a beautiful house in Shingu, it has everything you need, we spent 3 great days here. There are really beautiful mountains, temples and forests in the area, good for hiking and sightseeing. The host is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Beautiful old-style guesthouse right next to Hayatama Taisha. The location is absolutely amazing. Hayatama Taisha is literally steps away from the front door. There are river views from the room and the tatami floor rooms are beautiful.

Shingu is a small coastal town with few hills which is a...

Shingu is a small coastal town with few hills which is a wonderful to find after 10 days hiking on the mountainous Kumano Kodo pilgrimage walks. One of the 3 Great Shrines is here and very accessible whether walking or driving. Getting to and from Shingu is very easy with the train station and bus station being together in the center of town. It is a good base for reaching the other 2 Great Shrines of the Kumano Kodo at Hongu and Nachisan. There are a number of good eateries in the town but one of the joys was just wandering down laneways and discovering little gems not listed in the usual guides.
