It was hands down the best place I've stayed in Japan so far! Huge rooms with lots of space. Great amenities. Had an ocean view from upstairs which was incredible. It was very easy to find and had parking available. We had such a lovely stay and our hosts were super communicative and friendly! Would highly recommend.

The location is stunning. We booked a room with an ocean view and it did not disappoint. The breakfast was delicious, and the hotel packed us bento boxes to take with us on hike. We made good use of the shoe dryer in the room too since we got soaked on said hike. Our stay was a bit of a splurge for us, but it was well worth it. The staff spoke English and we were able to fill in any gaps with a translation app.

"Shared bathroom" means "Public Bath", ONLY! Staff speaks very little English. Room had a funny smell. The japanese style room is authentic, otherwise rooms are sparsely furnished. Hot/cold water machine, unlimited tea, optional bento box.

It was super cute, and the staff was so friendly and helpful. it was located in a very calm area, accessible by bus with just a short walk from the bus stop. There were two restaurants in the area, one sushi restaurant a 15 min walk from the house and another one a bit further away. The staff, Mr Ryosaki Nakashima, helped us call and make a reservation at the sushi restaurant, which was lucky since it was almost full when we arrived. It was possible to wash your clothes for free at Cottage Morinokokage, and there were also some vending machines with food and drinks available. We also asked for breakfast (possible to book upon check-in) which was very nice and in-expensive.

Satomi was an incredible host and very helpful throughout the stay. She helped me plan all my hikes and because of her I managed to do the 3 main hikes on the island in my 3 days on Yakushima. I have never had a greater host at a guesthouse. The building has a very fun and quirky interior, it really feels like you are staying in Japanese house. The bed was comfortable enough for me.

It was a great pleasure to stay at the place. The barbecue option is a find! It made our stay unforgettable. The beds were very comfortable, house is spotless, kitchen is functional. The minshuku Is near the stop n 60 of the Island bus. The room was a traditional japanese one and the futon was good. The bathroom was the same as other you can find in a normal hotel in Japan. The staff was amazing! The 3 girls who run the Guesthouse was really kindly and they help us to organize the trekking and they also book a table for dinner and prepare me a bento box when i woke up earlier than breakfast time! Really nice!
