FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is an amazing city to visit with lots of cool things to do and places to visit. The city look is lovely with lots of trees and green spaces. Team Labs Planets was worth the effort and cost. Seria is an epic 100y shop definitely worth a visit. Ginza was very interesting to experience. We would love to return to Tokyo one day.

We stayed in Tokyo for a total of 5 nights, with 1 night upon arrival and 4 nights at the end of our trip. Tokyo is a massive destination similar to London, where it's better to see it as multiple cities conglomerated into one giant metropolis. As such, we found ourselves loving some areas of Tokyo and truly disliking others. It's therefore super important to determine what parts you would like to see and where you would like to stay, since it's extremely variable depending on the ward you're staying in. Train transport can get you pretty much anywhere, but know that hopping from one sight to the next will likely be quite a few train rides apart due to the size of Tokyo.

It is an incredibly modern and efficient city. The people are lovely and polite. Everywhere is clean and you will not see a bit of litter or graffiti anywhere. We in the west could learn so much from Tokyo in terms of how to run a city.

Navigating Tokyo may sometimes seems tiring when riding the subway: long halls, many stair. Transfering to another line is often tricky, as there are several different companies and they do not necessarily intersect. Look for elevators and escalators, although reaching them may often involve walking hundreds of meters. Take the bus whenever possible, it's a nicer ride. We often took Uber when the subway was too convoluted. Finding a good restaurant is easy: there are nice places just around every corner. And of course, clerks in stores are excessively polite and that's a change from Western countries where I come from!

The Transport system is fabulous.

The Transport system is fabulous. It is really easy to navigate when you understand how it works. The food was delicious. The people are very courteous and respectful. There was so much to see and do. We were not there long enough as we were in transit to something else. It is a definite reason to go back.

We spent a very Chill time in Tokyo.

We spent a very Chill time in Tokyo. We only did two attractions, the Tokyo tower and the metro art museum in ueno. We spent the rest of our trip in Northern areas of jJapan. Tokyo is an energized city so we stayed in the quiet neighborhoods near the world trade center and waterfront. This allowed us to use the monorail for the airport. We walked around, ate French baked goods, Ramen, and Lebanese food and Chinese. We enjoyed sitting in the park and seeing a cool bonsai shop, a cool woven artisan basket shop and a shop where they make modern clothes out of Kimono. I had a black sesame butter shave ice. We were there 3days, 5 nights, we used trains and go taxi app.

Staff were very friendly and willing to help with anything. There was a good atmosphere in the hotel. It is very close to lots of restaurants, convenience stores, entertainment and public transport links. They provided me and my new husband with sparkling wine and glasses to celebrate our honeymoon which I thought was lovely.

Nice hotel. Has everything you might need. The location was the best part 2-3 good metro lines and JR Line stop, also Ueno shopping district and Ueno park. For me Ueno is even better then crowded Shinjuku or Shibuya.
