FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is a city where you could have 6 or 7 different holidays in a single stay. Being the largest city in the world, and having such a wide variety of wards encompassed within it, it would be impossible to visit without finding something for you to enjoy. Travel around Tokyo is incredibly easy, with the underground network servicing almost every corner of the city and anywhere not covered will have a bus to take you there. Our favourite places were: - Asakusa, around Senso-ji temple, with the plethora of small izakayas and restaurants to really give you the Japanese experience. - Golden Gai in Shinjuku, where almost 200 bars are packed into an area smaller than a baseball field/half a soccer pitch. If you don't find a bar theme that you enjoy in there, then you'll never find one anywhere. -Kamakura/Ofuna, down on the south coast but still within the greater Tokyo area, is a beautiful, picturesque set of seaside towns with cute trains and amazing beaches to enjoy.

Tokyo is like a hude subway during the peak hours, but it is like this 24/7, with lots of stress, noise, visual junk. People behave as if they all were in an army, or as if they were robots on a factory. I really, absolutely did not like this place.

Tokyo is an amazing city to visit with lots of cool things to do and places to visit. The city look is lovely with lots of trees and green spaces. Team Labs Planets was worth the effort and cost. Seria is an epic 100y shop definitely worth a visit. Ginza was very interesting to experience. We would love to return to Tokyo one day.

We stayed in Tokyo for a total of 5 nights, with 1 night upon arrival and 4 nights at the end of our trip. Tokyo is a massive destination similar to London, where it's better to see it as multiple cities conglomerated into one giant metropolis. As such, we found ourselves loving some areas of Tokyo and truly disliking others. It's therefore super important to determine what parts you would like to see and where you would like to stay, since it's extremely variable depending on the ward you're staying in. Train transport can get you pretty much anywhere, but know that hopping from one sight to the next will likely be quite a few train rides apart due to the size of Tokyo.

It is an incredibly modern and efficient city.

It is an incredibly modern and efficient city. The people are lovely and polite. Everywhere is clean and you will not see a bit of litter or graffiti anywhere. We in the west could learn so much from Tokyo in terms of how to run a city.

The location is fantastic as the hotel is very close to several stations with easy access to Haneda airport by monorail as well as all attractions including Shibuya Sky and Sensō-ji temple. The hotel is in a quiet area which is very close to Shiba Park which is lovely with the Tokyo Tower, Zojo-ji Temple and Jizo statues. The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient offering excellent customer service. We loved the hotel decor which was very relaxing with nice sitting areas near reception & excellent free coffee.

The staff were very kind, caring and helpful. Communication was easy here. My husband and I caught the limousine bus from Haneda airport. A very convenient service. The hotel is also not far from Ikebukuro metro and JR. Stations, also the Hop on hop off bus. The choice of food was exceptional and serious attention paid to food safety. The bed was also exceptionally comfortable. There is a large window with lovely view and bonus small section to open to let in fresh breeze.

Perfect location, 1 min walk to Oedo line Higashi Shinjuku, 12 min walk to JR Shinjuku, can easily get to anywhere by train or bus. Also, the room is quite clean. Even besides a main road in downtown, the inside is quiet once the door is closed. The queen bed is soft. I booked this room for my family to stay. They are satisfied with the fully equipped desgin. The hotel provide every utensils needed.

The hotel is well situated, near Yotsuya san-chome (四谷三丁目) station, making travel into Shibuya and Shinjuku extremely easy. The room was spacious and clean, with all the usual fittings expected in a Japanese hotel. The staff were also very helpful, having received our luggage before our arrival, and helping us to send it onwards to our next hotel at the end of our stay.
