Very friendly hosts who went out of their way to make our stay very pleasant and enjoyable. The building is comfortable, the onsen is great to relax, and the food is so fresh and tasty… highly recommend!

I visited Tomioka during cherry blossom season to see the...

I visited Tomioka during cherry blossom season to see the famous Yonomori Sakura Tunnel. It was truly marvelous, and well worth the drive. Not only were the blossoms lovely both during the day and into the sunset until becoming beautifully illuminated at night - but also, I could see how much this place means for the community and how powerful a symbol it is for hope for Tomioka. I stayed at Hotel Hojinkan, which is very modern and has wide rooms for accessible prices, and is only a short drive away from Yonomori. It’s heartbreaking to see the homes that had to be left behind back then, as well as the few difficult to return areas that are left. But it was also very inspiring to see the reconstruction and development that the town has had in the past few years, and the commitment of people in Tomioka to come together and build a brighter future.

It was conveniently located on the way to my destination.

It was conveniently located on the way to my destination. The location lacked any notable sightseeing spots or dining options, so it felt more like a business hotel, and while the service was mediocre, they did provide some basic amenities (karaoke, massage equipment in the bathroom, souvenirs in the shop, and snacks). The facilities were very clean and tidy, and the amenities were adequate, creating a very comfortable space. The room was neither large nor small, but the attached bathroom was clean and had a convenient shower faucet. The large public bath was also clean, and the sauna was a plus. The food was a buffet, with only the bare minimum, which was disappointing, and left me feeling a little underwhelmed. The food was well-prepared and delicious, so I wish I could have enjoyed it more.
