This is THE best place in Yufuin. It was really easy to check in. Yes it's a bit further away from the city centre which makes it a bit more difficult to get to if you don't have a car (you can walk it or take a taxi up there) but it has the most epic view of the mountain. There are two onsens that everyone at the hotel can use, but they are effectively private as once you are in them you lock the door and you can have them to yourselves. The water is fantastic. Refreshing and makes you feel very relaxed. I would stay here at the drop of a hat again. Also make sure you walk up to Oogosha shrine (only 5 mins away) where you can get the experience of visiting a HUGE cedar tree temple and a bamboo forest that is 10x better than Arashiyama.

Had the most amazing stay at Oyado Hananoyu. The inn is a little bit far from the station, so the staff can pick up and drop you off. My room was so comfortable and spacious, I loved the private onsen it came with. I was served an extremely generously sized dinner and breakfast. To top it off, the owner has the sweetest little dog who I got to play with. The price is unbeatable as well. Will absolutely stay here again if I'm in Yufuin.

We loved our stay, the room was outstanding with an amazing view. The Chef was from a different planet, both the breakfast and dinner were exceptional and exceeded all expectations, a gem! What a lovely hidden gem! A beautiful wooden house with multiple rooms and all the facilities you need for a very comfortable stay. The owner is very nice and helpfull and speaks English. The location is peaceful, in the mountains along a wide river and it is easy to navigate to nearby convenience stores, restaurants and hot springs.
