The Setta Palace is far and away the best hotel in Vientiane, and one of the best in Southeast Asia. The grounds are lovely, the rooms, the dining room, and other common areas have that classic, old luxury hotel feel. Yet the prices are competitive with the newer, sterile-feeling chain hotels now opening as the economy expands.

New and Comfortable inn with friendly staff and good service. The location is in the downtown, walking 5-10 minutes to the Parkson shopping mall or Si Muang temple or central bus station, 15-20 minutes to mekong riverside or Patuxay park. The room is big and clean.

The breakfast offered more than enough in both quality and quantity. The staff are professional, kind, and always willing to assist. I enjoyed both the continental and the traditional Laotian options. Expecting anything beyond this would be unreasonable—it reflects a lack of understanding of Laos, and indeed of much of the world. The hotel is very well located. Vientiane is a small Asian city, and although distances are short, walking during the hotter parts of the day can be exhausting. I chose to go for walks very early in the morning (around 6 am), then return to the hotel for breakfast and a short rest. After that, I always used Loca/Taxi, which was reliable, clean, inexpensive, and safe. Fares - Airport ⇄ hotel: 135–150 000 Kip, Train station ⇄ hotel: 250–300 000 Kip (depending on traffic) Hotel ⇄ city centre/monuments 55 000Kip. I stayed in two different rooms, both of exceptional quality, especially considering the economic context. Everything worked perfectly, and the level of comfort exceeded that of equivalent hotels in Australia or the United States. The manager, Mario, and the night desk officer, Rico, went above and beyond to help me with the booking and to make my stay memorable. If I return, I will certainly stay here again. Thank you, Rico and Mario.

Everything was just perfectly right: super convenient location, super welcoming, responsive and hostile staff speaking good English, renovated rooms with spotlessly clean bedding and towels, cheap and good meals can be ordered in their own restaurant downstairs, plus nice breakfast included. The Urbanite is a relatively new building on the edge of the center of Vientiane. There are several other hotels of the same category in the vicinity. There are small stores opposite for drinks and snacks. It is a four-star hotel and we can fully confirm this standard. It offers all the comfort and convenience you need when traveling. We spent four nights here as a family with two adult children and it was wonderful. The first positive feature to mention is the reception staff. At the front desk, the always friendly smiling Ms. Kham, Ms. Ti, Mr. Yeehcell, Mr. Chantaree and Mr. Wim made sure to fulfill all our requests and answer our questions. It was truly remarkable. Whenever we appeared in the lobby, one of the five staff members would greet us with a friendly face from behind the reception desk. The breakfast was very special and delicous. There were four Laotian main courses with rice, a different delicacy every day. The variations were very varied and extremely tasty. I would love to have this cook at home. For lovers of continental breakfasts, there were omelettes, bacon and sausages. There was also a fruit bar with lots of fruit and other delicacies. The buffet chef was also very friendly and always eager to answer any questions. Very, very good service, really. Of course, I don't want to forget the room service. Whatever you needed, towel, soap or anything else. They were always there to help in a friendly manner. So great! (a big "Thank you" to the staff for everything)
