We actually stayed in Kabalana which is just 25 min walk or 5 min tuk tuk drive from Ahangama. It was the right decision as Ahangama was twice as busy and Kabalana beach was way better. Ahangama is great for surfing, restaurants and social life! There are some weekly parties in town and a lot of solo travellers which can be met on social hostels, all around the town and at the beach. Definitely a quieter side of Sri Lanka, though its picking up and the nice part is if you have transport you can go visit the other beaches which are all in the same line and about 20-30 minutes distance within each other. There's a lot to do in terms if shopping some knick knacks, enjoying the food and some drinks as well. The resort is extremely beautiful with a lovely garden and pool area and the rooms are clean, spacious and beautifully furnished. It’s just a short walk to Kabalana Beach and it’s popular surf spot. Food options are also great and the hosts and staff are absolutely amazing! Everyone is super friendly and always happy to help with anything you need. The rooms are beautiful, they are decorated with great taste and the bed is so comfortable. Make sure you check out their cafe for breakfast for some yummy treats and great coffee, the staff is amazing too. There’s a little pathway to a secret beach (only 20m away) it’s so pretty and you’re gonna have it for yourself!!
