The entire place was idyllic. Just off away from the hustle and bustle. The setting is in paddy fields down a dirt track. So, so cool! The manager on sight was extremely helpful and got us a tuktuk and drove with his bike down the track as our car couldn't make it and got us cold fresh juice on arrival. The owner was very helpful via WhatsApp. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our experience. Thank you to the team.

It was a pleasure to stay at Leel's Safari Cottage! Leel, Nameli and Leel's Mother are such heartful persons, we had a lot of fun together! The rooms are very new and have a nice view to the garden which is wunderful! Make the Safari Tour with Lee, he has very good knowledge, and gives his best to give you the most special experience. He showed us so many animals! Also the food his mother and wife are cooking is very delicious! His taxi driver sameera is also great.We highly recommend this place, and hope we come back soon! The best stay of our 1 month trip to Sri Lanka. I highly recommend Amba Kola Udawalawe. We spent 3 days and never wanted to leave. Rooms and the common area are artistically designed. Super friendly host and excellent home cooked meals. Spotlessly clean rooms and peaceful surroundings. Do yourself a favour to stay at this beautiful property to make your trip to Udawalawe memorable. Special thanks to Amma to provide us an authentic Sri Lankan food and drinks. We definitely would like to come back and stay here for longer time.

Good place, nice host (including the dogs) and good beers and food. Wake up with the sound of the Uwadalewe birds. A great cottage made from wood. You'll feel at home when you enter the homestay. A good place to visit the national park. Book your safari via the homestay. The guide is great.

We only stayed for one night but really had a wonderful time. The place is located next to the river and the garden with the pool makes you feel like being in the middle of the jungle. The owner is very kind and welcoming prepared wonderful meals for us. Highly recommended, for sure also for longer stays.

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an...

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an interesting trip into real sri lankan life. Cafe's cake shops, restaurants etc - and banks/ATMs - in fact not much that you don't need. A 30mins drive to the beach going south and a 15 in drive to the national park for the elephants. To say nothing of the peacocks constantly gracing Illukawella's gardens.

We were only passing by for some business matters.

We were only passing by for some business matters. But holiday wise nothing really much to see unless you're an agri culture enthusiast. Pretty close to Udawalawa National Park, so it's a good stop over for someone who wants to do Udawalawa Safari.

This hotel had lots of charm! The location is beautiful, just off the main road but surrounded by fields... you feel like you have entered a small paradise away from the chaos. The hotel is in a big old house, with a colonial feel and traditional decorations. The room was quaint, it was small and basic but met our needs. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens, it was lovely to relax in the pool and enjoy the surroundings. Breakfast was generous and delicious!! Overall we really enjoyed our time here and would recommend this place.

The tranquility and peace of the house and grounds so near the town but far enough to feel a genuine feeling if being at one with nature. Meals, drinks by the pool and the general helpfulness of the staff all made staying a Illukawella a sheer delight. Having stayed in earlier years, before Illukawella was listed on Booking.com, the comfort and class has definitely reached another level. The elephant sancutary is not quite near enough the hear the herd at feeding or washing times but almost. they're a very short drive away.

It was a very pleasant stay for us. We had a really nice stay. The room was large, very clean, and came with a bathtub in the bathroom, which was perfect for mornings. The view of the lake from our room was beautiful and peaceful. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel had easy access to the safari park, which made our trip even more convenient. Vegetarian options at the buffet were limited However, the staff kindly prepared a few extra vegetarian dishes for us, which we really appreciated.

We stayed one night to do a Safari in Udawalawe. It was the perfect hotel for that. Walking distance to the Main Bus station.host was very friendly and arranged everything for us. We even got a delicious homemade breakfast to take with us. The service was outstanding! The room was very clean and comfortable. The price was very reasonable - I would definitively recommend this place.
