Once you enter the property is like stepping back in time, where modernity mixes with history in a very relaxing atmosphere, the staff is young and willing to go above and beyond of your expectation, nothing is impossible, a smile is guaranteed, bed are comfortable and rooms are super well equipped and really chic, food is very good and we cannot wait to come back good job guys!!! The view to the river was amazing. We could watch the elephants all day long. Breakfast is nice. We had lunch outside of the hotel, worst food ever. After we decided to have dinner in the hotel from menu, really good and nice food. Don`t look for outside restaurant, stay in. We used their pick up service, their driver guy was really nice and polite boy. Wifi worked good!

This place is a DREAM! We booked for one night and stayed almost a week. It's the perfect location - near the elephant orphanage but away from the crowds. Surrounded by nature, quiet, beautiful views, fireflies at night, wonderful caretakers who cook delicious local dinners and the chalet which was the epitome of comfort and luxury in a homely setting. We spent every morning at breakfast (which is served at the main hotel just a 5 min walk away) overlooking the elephants taking their morning bath and having delicious food. We were even able to use the hotel pool. The best part of all was Andrew the manager who went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable. He arranged so many things for us - a birthday celebration, a tour to the village and a waterfall, tips where to go and so much more. He is without a doubt the nr 1 host in Sri Lanka and the Peacock village was our nr 1 favorite place we stayed during our trip to Sri Lanka. We will 100% be staying here again.

The hosts here were so kind and accommodating. The room was spacious and comfy with a balcony overlooking the garden. The elephant orphanage is very close by and there are some lovely poolside bars and restaurants in the area.

Pinnawala basically has 4 main attractions therefore a maximum of 2 days is sufficient. The main attraction is the elephant orphanage. Related to that is the elephant bathing at the nearby river which is fascinating. Remember the ticket you purchase for the orphanage is required for the bathing so do both in the same day as the tickets technically only valid for the day (we did not know this so we went to the orphanage in the evening and went to see the bathing the next day.. however the kind ticket officers let us go). Then there is a mini zoo where animals roam in more space than usual. You can feed animals here which could be fascinating (for a small fee). Then there is a traditional village called Iparini Gama where you can experience live style of a traditional sri lankan village.

Spectacular area to get up and close with elephants. Unique experience with elephants walking thru the village for their daily bathing. General accommodation facilities were good. Bars and eateries also of reasonable standard. We stayed at Grand Royal Pinnalanda and found this quite satisfactory in services and value.

Amazing experience to watch the elephants bathing. A number of souvenir shops on the street and limited food options. We ate in our hotel. Shops don't stay open late as most tourists leave for the day. 1 night is enough.

The staff were very obliging.

The staff were very obliging. We arrived at 1am, this was not a problem and they greeted us warmly. Next morning we watched elephants in river from our balcony. The events coordinator took us to a place where we could walk and swim with elephants. He stopped on side of road on way back to try coconut milk. Wonderful staff. We found the breakfast not quite to European tastes.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the complete hotel staff for their remarkable kindness and assistance, which undoubtedly enhanced our stay. We reserve special gratitude for Andrew, our tour guide, whose warm welcome and generous gesture of taking us on a village tour with his car left a lasting impression. Most notably, witnessing the elephants relishing their river bath was an extraordinary experience. The soothing sound of the river from our room added a truly relaxing touch to our stay.

Our stay at Elephant Bay Hotel was unforgettable! The room was big, spacious, and spotless, offering excellent value for money. The location is unbelievable – we could watch elephants throughout the day directly from our balcony, an experience we’ll never forget. Dinner was tasty, breakfast was lovely, the pool was great, and the hotel is in close proximity to the town, making it very convenient.

The hotel is located within the few metres from the Elephant orphanage and had great access to the government owned elephant bathing area near the river which gives easy access to watch the elephant bathing activity which the main attraction of this place. Overall good stay, decent food as we had both breakfast and dinner included in the package.

Very very beautiful place and idea. Peacock village is located 200m from resort. So there is good amount of privacy and not far from shops or restaurants. There are always personnel nearby you can seek and ask for anything. Big up for our guide Andrew who took us everywhere we wanted, was never late, always super nice and polite.
