We had the suite, with the large terrace, directly on the beachfront. It was simple amazing! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Room service can be arranged by whatsapp. The menu and drinks have enough variety for 5-6 days. The beach is very quite and beautiful. Highlight was diner at the beachfront. Also, the spa menu gives your some good options for relaxation.

Everything about this stay was exeptional from the comfort of the room to the quality of the breakfast and the cleanliness was brilliant. This was topped off by having the perfect host/owner. If you are visiting tangalle this place is a MUST to stay. I CANNOT reccoment enough. We would stay here again in a breath

We had an amazing stay at Halcyon in Mawella! The hotel is perfectly located – peaceful, with a quiet, clean beach just steps away. The atmosphere is super relaxing, and the pool area is beautiful with plenty of sunbeds, so there’s always a spot to unwind. We ate all our meals at the hotel – breakfast, lunch, and dinner – and every single one was delicious. The food is a wonderful mix of Sri Lankan flavors with some Western touches, fresh and full of taste. The setting is gorgeous and the staff are genuinely friendly, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a laid-back, beautiful spot to enjoy the south coast of Sri Lanka!

The owner and her team are amazing - welcoming, helpful and very friendly! The room was spacious, clean and had a great balcony - one of the best we had in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. The breakfast was delicious and a lot, we loved all homemade delicacies. The owner provided us with useful tips and recommendations, and can support with any question on the activities.

Clean rooms, clean garden, clean area, all day the hotel staff are working the keep everything clean and nice. If you are at Sri Lanka you know how rare the clean hotels. This is one of the few of the places where you feel the cleanest . Friendly and very kind owner !

The bungalow was so lovely the furniture and decor was perfect for me a Balinese style. Great large terrace with sunbeds and a seating area. The pool was kept so clean and from it you had a view of the lagoon. Sunbeds also table and chairs to relax in by the pool. Only 10 bungalows on the resort. The beach is a short walk away with not a lot on it. If you walk a way there are a couple of hotels you can eat and drink at. Hardly anyone on the beach. Friendly helpful staff. There are other beaches 10 min drive away. We ate at the rezort a couple of times and the food was excellent. This was one of our favourite places we stayed at.

Lots of gorgeous beaches nearby don’t stay on the main town beach. Take a bus to silent beach / Goyambokka beach / red beach / pallikudwua etc - you could walk from the town to Red beach and Pallikafwua too in 30 minutes Free sunbeds if you eat/ drink at the local beach bars at every beach

Tangalle is a cozy, small city where you find whatever you need. A variety of beaches in and around in both directions, some of them really hidden gems, but also quiet family beaches where you can bring your kids.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great.

The owners and staff were delightful - the service great. The cabannes were in the style of my travels 50 years ago and a great reminder of how simple life can (and should) be. For eating there is plenty of choice in the area and all easy walking but not always in 32 deg 😂

Tangalle is a mix of typical large commercial local Sri Lankan town buzz combined with touristy beach / restaurant / bar area. Very laid back along that 'strip', many bars and restaurants vying for business so you can be selective.

Perfect place to relax by the beaches, some of them are like or similar a near private beach type; but, difficult to swim. Generally, the waves and current are rough and sometime dangerous to rocky beaches; in early morning time, 9-10 am, waves and current can be managed to some extent....

It’s more of a local sleepy town and less touristy than the rest of the south coast. Lots of great beaches and family run restaurants. I could have easily used it as a base and stayed longer had the weather been better.

This is a perfect 10. We were late but the dinner was ready, a wonderfall crab combo and a beer and just time to finish and go to sea the turtles needing and the babies birth. The beach is just a few meters from the hotel. The breakfast was also marvellous and and Don offered us his service to drive to our next place in this wonderful Sri Lanka. Do not hesitate to go there and see the turtles and much more. The best welcome ever !

Spacious, modern and very clean rooms. The bedding is comfortable. The pools are very well maintained. The staff and the manager are attentive and caring. Located a few hundred meters from the beach and small shops, the Anama is a small haven of peace. During your stay, don't hesitate to try the delicious Sri Lankan breakfast, the best we have tasted in Sri Lanka. We highly recommend the anama Tangalle by Anka

It’s a boutique hotel with ~ 10 chalets whilst property is really big which gives a lot a space for the guests. The bar / restaurant has the best view, the food ia great and the service excellent. The beach is quite yet with 10 minutes with the Tuk Tuk you’re in Tangalle. We had one of the bigger chalets which was great with the family.

This exceeded our expectations. It was the top pick in Lonely Planet which we used as a guide. The rooms are superb and it is right on the beach, the only one in the area where you can swim safely. The food was brilliant and the best coffee in Sri Lanka.
