Friendly staff willing to go the extra mile. Organised our safari for us, made special meals for my fussy eater kids and were just awesome in every way. Do yourselves a favour and stay and this beautiful hotel. They will do everything to make sure you enjoy your stay. The owner was very hands on. He picked us up from the junction upon arrival using his tuktuk, gave us welcome drinks, arranged the Yala safari for the next morning including food and water, showed us around the lake, and finally took us to the bus station when we left! We experienced such emotions in Sri Lanka from the service and attitude towards customers for the first time. Clean and tidy rooms, where it is pleasant to spend time, delicious dinner and maximum support and help on any issue from the host. especially grateful for the help with the bike. Slippers, brushes, shampoos, mosquito repellent and more were nice bonuses we received. These are exactly the kind of people who care about every customer. Thank you very much and we will definitely come back more than once, at least for a delicious dinner and warm emotions.

We stayed as a couple at Saffron Lake Yala for 3 nights. The facilities were excellent - we stayed in one of the villas and it was spotlessly clean, with great finishings/facilities - spacious, comfortable bed, fan and A/C, hot water (not warm, hot!) and good pressure. There is no dining room area as such, food is served to you on the terrace of your villa or room. Staff, in particular the manager Roshan, were very friendly and helpful - arranging tuk tuks, travel advice, preparing food, hot drinks, etc. We also arranged our full-day safari to Yala National Park through the hotel (with a driver/guide called Ruwan @ Wild Angle Sri Lanka) - which was fantastic and again competitively priced. Location of the hotel was beautiful and peaceful, right on the lakeside, which you can wander along to birdwatch/see the sunset. Is not centrally located - is a long walk or 20min tuk tuk (1000LKR) from the centre of Tissa, but safari and taxi can pick up/drop off directly at the hotel.

The host family were both very welcoming from start to finish. The owner took us around the lake at sunset to view the bird and wildlife and even picked up some buffalo curd for us to try. Food was exceptional and hospitality first class and very genuine

We stayed in the place for one night a had chosen it because of Yala safari. We contacted the owner via booking chat in advance and he arranged us a private jeep safari to Yala national park. We were picked from the place at 4:30 and were back at noon. And that was really enough, as the the best time to see wild animals is very in the morning. The Yalla park opens at 6 a.m. and the jeeps have to stand in queue before entrance, so it is important to be at the entrance little bit early - we were there at 5:20 - so that to enter the park with the firs visitors. That is important, because jeeps go to specific places where leopards and elephants live and then again stand in queue so that to see animals. Therefore the time spend in the queues depends on the experience of the driver and our driver was really very good. We saw leopards, elephants, wild pigs, bulls, peacocks, crocodiles and more wild nature. We ordered a room with terrace without breakfast as the breakfast was included in safari price and we had a breakfast on the ocean beach in Yala. The room we booked was clean and comfortable. We had some time after we checked in in the afternoon, so we went to Kirinda to the beach, as we traveled by tuk tuk on ourselves. We had a beautiful sunset on the terrace of our room. And the owner offered to prepare us a dinner - we even could choose dishes from wide menu with listed prices - that was pleasantly surprising, as this is the place where the owners family lives and they offer only couple rooms to rent. Overall the Willage Mango Resort Yala met all our expectations so we definitely recommend the place to stay, especially if you plan to have Yala safari.

It should be on everyone’s itinerary! The safari was amazing- go for the all day! And Jami Riverside Hotel is run by a wonderful host couple and the accommodations were comfortable, clean and affordable. They will make all the safari arrangements with the park for you if you wish. We had a wonderful driver -PHN Kasun Sampath.

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

The location is excellent and the resort is real value for money . The food was excellent . The rooms were nice . The toiletries in the bathrooms needs to improve . The bathroom needs exhaust fans as it can get quite stuffy . The resort manager Mr Upal is a nice friendly bloke and is exceptional in his service . Overall a very pleasant experience .

This is a great location to stay if you want to visit the national parks and My Village will organise safaris to the four parks in the area either a half or full day. The local town is not a tourist town but it's great to wander around looking in the local shops.

We were there the first time for safari.

We were there the first time for safari. We had a tour to the Buddha by the sea…amazing. This time we were passing through on our way to Ella. We ate at Red Pizza which was just as good second time round.

Milshani is a host, who takes care for her guests. She organized all safaris for me in advance and each was worth the money. If it was leopards in Yala, elephants in Udawalawe or birds and crocodiles in Bundala, nature lovers will enjoy. The Sri Lankan food was exceptional, Milshani and her mother even gave me cooking lesson. The location of the homestay is away from the noise in Tissamaharama and I loved overlooking the rice fields from the veranda. Super homestay, super hosts. Would come again.

What a hidden gem in Tissa! The cleanest most comfortable accommodation we have had in Sri Lanka, the food in the restaurant was high quality and delicious, especially the Sri Lankan food! The pool and gardens are beautiful. The hotel organised a great safari for us and packed us breakfast to go. If you are staying in Tissa - you must stay here, highly recommend, 10 stars!

We loved the location close to Yala and Kataragama. We loved the pool area for afternoon relaxing. The restaurant produced some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. Most of all the staff were amazing. Special mention of Angela who organised travel to and from the hotel and safaris for us.
