Fès is a kaleidoscope of colours, smells and sensations, and its intricate urban design is an allegory of its own identity. Live up to the pace of this ancient Babel, and go the whole hog immerging yourself into its 1001 Nights atmosphere. Check out the Booking.com hotel deals in fascinating Fès and enjoy!

Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. The city is still considered a beacon of the Islamic civilisation, due to its ancient ‘madrasas’ Islamic colleges.

The Old Town or ‘medina’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the best preserved historic centres in the world. The famous ‘riads’ or small traditional hotels are located in the medina, which is also called Fes Al-Bali.

The city can be reached through Fès Saïss Airport, or from the airports in Casablanca and Rabat via railway or bus connection. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Fez New Town or a historic ‘riad’ in the medina, don’t miss Booking.com’s wide offering!

I liked the most that Fes is a very traditional town with no many tourists. Has old medina better than Marrakech. I like this town vibe and authentically. I like is safe and with good people who always want to help.

The best of Fez, Morocco's artisan city, includes exploring the ancient, car-free medina to witness skilled artisans at work in traditional souks, visiting the famous Chouara Tannery to see leather goods production, and experiencing crafts like pottery, metalwork, and weaving. Visitors can also immerse themselves in local crafts through hands-on workshops or by shopping for unique, handmade goods, such as rugs, oils and spices at women-only cooperatives. The local food is great and also the cafe' and music concerts. I attended the Fez Festival of Sufi Culture and World Spirituality, an unforgettable, rich experience.

The most amazing city.

The most amazing city. Have been a number of times, and love the fact that I’m still finding places that I haven’t seen before. Especially loved the local markets, seeing the production of the embroidery that embellishes the beautiful clothes, and the sensory overload of the smells, sights, sounds and overall vibe. Can’t wait to be back.

Fes is a ghastly tourist trap.

Fes is a ghastly tourist trap. Two nights will be plenty if you must go but if you skip it then the sky will not fall.Meknes and Sale( near Rabat) would be less touristed esp. Sale` .I could have spent more time walking in the Atlas mountains. The chance of becoming over saturated with all Moorish markets , tiled palaces and ancient Madrassas is high in Urban Morocco. Get off the beaten path !! Fes is also very HOT. Don't go in the April to October period. Book a half day guided walking tour of the old city and then get out!

Fez is a fascinating city, full of life, commerce, and talented artisans. To appreciate Fez, come with an open-mind, ready to explore a world that in many ways hasn't changed in hundreds of years. A good guide can help you appreciate the history and beauty of some of the historic buildings (the medrasa, the tanneries, the oldest university), the quality of the handicrafts and the way of life of the people who make the medina their home. Visiting the Fez medina is an intense and rewarding experience.

Early September was the wrong time to go there (my mistake) - far too hot to be enjoyable. Getting around in the Medina was very difficult and sometimes frustrating. There one can easily fall into the trap of being accosted by self-styled guides who will take you to various shops and ask you for money at the end. Perhaps for an older traveller it would have been better to lodge outside the Medina and visit it from there with an official tour. On the positive side, some of the sites were very beautiful and the people mostly very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful riad and a true oasis in the heart of the medina in Fes. The staff were friendly and helpful. The photos of the Dekkakine Suite do not do the actual room justice. The level of detail in the tiling and carvings were incredible. We enjoyed the lofted bed, spacious bathroom, and the big windows that looked out onto the garden. Breakfast was delicious and each item was brought to us in lovely containers and tajines. After traveling around Morocco for a few a week, we felt like we could spend all day in the serene and lush courtyard.

I thank all the Dar Arsama team for their warm welcome, for making me feel at home and taking such good care of me. Beautiful terrace with garden, delicious breakfast and the best dinner I've had in all of Morocco at a very good price. Everything very clean with a very personal and authentic decoration. The Riad is very quiet and it is also next to one of the main streets of the Medina, which makes visiting all the cultural sites of Fes very comfortable. If you get the chance book here at Dar Arsama.

The room exceeded my expectations—it felt much bigger and more inviting than in the pictures. The high ceilings, large comfortable couch, and beautifully designed bathroom. The terrace and rooftop areas were spacious, offering plenty of room to relax in privacy while still providing opportunities to connect with other travelers if desired. The music event hosted by the hotel was also nice and professional and the breakfast was the best I had during my entire trip to Morocco.

It was one of the greatest places we stayed during our trip through Morocco. Very kind and nice people who are running the place. The riad is very beautifull inside and you have direct access to the medina of Fes through some seperate exit. If you stay there we can only highly recommend to eat dinner in the riad once. It was one of the best we got.

very comfortable hotel, large clean room. nice outdoor terrace. location was a comfortable walk to the medina (25mins) or to the centre of Fes. good place to stay to explore if you like walking. makes a very pleasant change from staying in riads at the end of our Morocco visit. They gave us a nice room upgrade.
