FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

Very friendly, welcoming city full of surprises.

Very friendly, welcoming city full of surprises. Rich culture - art, theatre, ballet, salsa in the park….. Really good informative museums. It is big and bustling but has a bit of space to breath when you need it. The Diego Rivera / Frida Kahlo studio and houses were my favourite of Frida based museums. Don’t miss the Palace de las Bellas Artes

Mexico City is fantastic.

Mexico City is fantastic. We stayed in Roma Norte / Condesa neighbourhoods and it was super safe. The streets were beautiful to walk around with lots of trees, coffee shop and restaurants. The food was great everywhere we went. The city has beautiful architecture everywhere. I would definitely recommend this city. I am planning to go back.

México City is a fantastic place to visit.

México City is a fantastic place to visit. Lots of history and great people. A lot to see in the city and within a day tour range. One tip: do not book a tour, including the city open top tour bus, on line. Best to go to one of the city tour bus stops and book there. This is cheaper and avoids you buying a product from an organisation elsewhere in the world who ended selling something that they don’t deliver, at a higher price and don’t communicate the booking to their local partner. So book with the local partner at the pick up locations.

Amazing city and beautiful people!!

Amazing city and beautiful people!! So much places to visit and all the locals were very nice. We visited the cathedral of our lady of Guadalupe and that was the main highlight of our visit. Lots of Taquerias to eat around Roma Norte and cafes were very convenient. We visited the hot springs and we really enjoyed that.

We have stayed at the Historico Central several times during our visits to Mexico City. It is a wonderful boutique hotel. Excellent service, professional staff, highly attentive to client needs. Impeccably clean. Hotel provides free of charge free water bottles, apples on every floor, plus free cafe access (paninis, soup, breakfast rolls, coffee), included in the hotel price is a delicious complete Mexican breakfast. Centrally located to excellent museums, historical sites, and great restaurants.

Absolutely fantastic stay, the best I’ve had in Mexico City, it’s extremely safe with a night watchman at the mall entrance, the rooms are very modern and very comfortable, the staff are absolutely amazing especially Angel who was extremely friendly and helpful our flight was late after checkout and they held our bags for most of the day . I would give this hotel 10/10 as a frequent traveler to Mexico City I will definitely stay here again.

This was an amazing stay. The hotel is historic in Mexico City and retains an old-style vibe in both decor and service. Staff is extremely attentive and always makes you feel welcomed. Rooms are large and comfortable with old wooden furniture. The location in Zona Rosa is perfect for walking and exploring different neighborhoods in every direction. Excellent breakfast options.

It’s the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. They do a lot to create a guest community. If I come back to Mexico City, I will choose this hostel over any hotel. You have your privacy thanks to the bed that you can close, the area is safe. The best part is the style of the hotel, it’s very beautifully decorated

Location makes Hilton a good option for those flying to or from Mexico City Airport. That seems though an only benefit of the hotel.
