With a variety of game and bird species, Waterberg Wilderness - ONE Namibia is located 90 km east of Otjiwarongo. This private nature reserve offers views of the mountain plateau and Kalahari plains.

Absolutely stunning views, amazing wildlife and tranquility. Away from it all.
The morning rhino walk with Wesley was a very special experience as we god very close to giraffes and rhinos.

We stayed one night at the Waterberg Wilderness ONE and a second night at the Waterberg NWR Restcamp. The views from the ONE were outstanding (we were upgraded to the Plateau Lodge), but the lodging costs were much higher. The NWR had surprisingly nice facilities, considering they are state-owned. Staying in either location requires guests to eat there or to self-cater. The ONE location lodging includes breakfast and dinner. The NWR location includes breakfast, with dinner served at the restaurant (ordering from a menu with decent choices).
We did a game drive through the NWR, which was much more affordable, but we did not get to see much (it was the wrong time of the year to see animals at watering holes). That drive is to the Waterberg Plateau, which is a wonderful trip in itself (even without seeing much wildlife). The ONE game drives are more expensive, but go to their own reserve to view rhinos (probably available year-round).

The lodge is clean and commensurate with its price.
The lodge is clean and commensurate with its price. The staff wasn't very enthusiastic. The rhino-driving driver, Walter, deserves special mention. Not recommended for those familiar with Namibia.

We went on a hike near the farm, which was great because we were accompanied by a local guide who explained the plants and trees and the medicinal remedies derived from them very well. It was nice to have some fresh air and conversation. A nice change from the game drive.

A super friendly welcome, very nice staff everywhere, great location with a magnificent view of the Waterberg. We would have loved to do more hiking. We only stayed one night. Anyone wanting a more upscale experience in the room, by the pool, and in the restaurant would have to book a higher price category at Waterberg Wilderness. It was perfectly adequate for us.

Great situation to explore the Waterberg area. The Rhino Drive in the afternoon is superb, , giving close encounters with the parks rhinos. This leaves at 4pm and worth arriving at the property early to book this.
The rooms are large but fairly basic with no air conditioning - can get quite warm
Food good but restricted menu
Wi-Fi good in main areas

Property has beautiful views and location is great. We saw baboons on the hotel property and did a hiking around the property. Our accommodation had 2 floors and was overall nice.
