Very small town, basically passthrough. The information centre was helpful. There was a coffee shop where we picked up coffees on the first day. On the second day she said she had none. The Chicken rock was super to see especially if you drove around to the lookout point on the hill.

A magnificent place that will stay with you! Especially the ferry crossing! Lush nature, truly lives up to its name. The village deserves to be more lively. A small snack bar or bar by the marina or near the twice-weekly market would be a welcome addition.

You have to arrive in Hienghène via the road from the north, which is magnificent, and which then allows you to see the "hen" (a rock formation) from various angles all the way to the viewpoint. It was too windy to approach it by canoe, but it must be a fun activity.

Superb places to visit in New Caledonia: peaceful, beautiful scenery, pleasant swimming on the beach and in the Pacific Ocean, and in the river. The Ouane Batch Camping snack bar just before the Colnette waterfall is excellent. The Ka Waboana Lodge snack bar, right opposite the Hienghène tourist office, is also great.

The bungalow's enchanting setting facing the sea. Poor Wi-Fi reception. Swimming pool under construction; we were advised not to use it as the water was dirty. Beach with pebbles and rocks. No menu at the restaurant, contrary to what was advertised; only an expensive buffet.

Hienghène is a beautiful town, worth visiting for its unique rock formations and its famous broody hen; its landscapes are magnificent both on the coast and in the mountains. The local people are quite courteous and wave to you throughout your journey.
